Chapter 8

The by-passing.

Crater began digging in her tote bag for her cellphone. She smacked her lips out of frustration of no success in feeling it. She pulled into the parking lot of the Sunday brunch celebrity hot spot and decided not to park her own car but have valet do it for her.

“Shit!” she mumbled. She realized that she had forgotten her phone at home on her bathroom counters. She cursed herself again for the reason of looking so hard for it in the first place. She hadn’t seen or heard from Terrence Strong since their last episode of sexual intercourse at her place. Slowly she was beginning to miss him. She had to snap herself out of it; she knew very well that living in the world of New York, love was NOT to be found. She checked her lipstick and then her freshly manicured nails and stepped out of her car. She placed her keys securely in the hands of the valet attendee.

“I’ve worked hard for my baby. Guard it with your life?” she asked jokingly.

“I’ll do my best Ms. Maliah” he giggled. Crater winked at him and whipped her hair away. Crater had the body for days and her outfits she threw on always complemented her skin complexion. Today she rocked her peach floral print pencil, high wasted skirt with the matching crop top and a pair of nude Jessica Simpson wedges. She strutted, as usual, to her destination.

“Crater Maliah! Well, well, well.” A voice sounded off as Crater began making her way to the restaurant door. She turned around and noticed him in the flesh, Mr. Strong it was.

“Terrence.” Crater sounded annoyed and turned around and kept walking. It took everything she had but it had to be done, to allow him to know that she wasn’t “that” girl and wouldn’t be.

“Come on Crater don’t be like that. I’ve been busy baby.” Crater stopped in her tracks instantly and did a full 180 on him and stared him right in the face.

“DON’T you ever call me “baby”, got it? And what makes you think I haven’t been busy myself. I work, full time, no play. Interview here, interview there. Trust and believe I’m above busy and have no time to waste wondering.” She said sternly.

“Whoaa, wheres all this coming from. You know I have love for you. I just have game here, game there. You know I’ve been missing you Crater” he said to her. Crater looked at her gold wrist watch and raised an eyebrow at him.

“Yeah, mhm, Terrence dido!  I’ll be in touch on the bases of the interview.” Crater played it off.

“What Cra-“ Terrence was interrupted.

“Ohhh afternoon Cray. Hello Terrence.” Seven greeted with a wonderful big smile that was aimed straight at the man of the hour.

“Hi beautiful” Terrence greeted in return. Crater arched her eyebrow yet said nothing.

“So you too are meeting up on the bases of the interview without me?” Seven laughed.

“Oh no, never! He was just leaving and caught me on his was out walking to his car.” Crater talked and nodded at Terrence so he would take the hint.

“Yeah. YEAHH! You two very sexy ladies just give us a call when YOU’RE ready for Strong.” Terrence winked at them and turned to walk to his car.

“Oh we’re ready baby” Seven assured him causing him to turn around and motion for her to call him and they’ll talk.

“Arrogant ass hole” Crater mumbled.

“How dare you talk about my future lover that way chick? You’re just so disrespectful.” Seven joked.
