Divine (Daniel Sahyounie) Chapter 8- Family

June 1st

Daniel Sahyounie's Point Of View

(In this I changed it to where Daniel has his mom, dad, and an older sister, she's 25. The characters will be added!)

"What if somebody sees us?" Jai asked, while I unbuckled Divine. Haha, I never thought about that. What if somebody does? "Oops." Beau laughed. "Whatever, I think they are going to find out soon enough." James shrugged. "Plus, everybody knew one of us would get a girl pregnant at one point in time." Beau laughed. "Yeah, except everybody thought it would be you." I rolled my eyes, picking up Divine and slamming the door. I put Divine back on the ground and we started walking towards to door.

"What are you gonna go with Divine while we film?" James asked. "Um.. After this I'm gonna go to my mum's and talk to her. After that I'll ask. Maybe I could even ask that kid next door..." I said. " Oh yeah, Leah or Lexi, the one that came over when we moved in." Jai said. "It's Lauren actually." James laughed.

-

"That's ugly." Divine frowned. We have only been here for thirty minutes. "No it's not!" James argued. "Then you wear it!" Divine sassed back, making me laugh. She got him there. "Divine, go pick stuff you like if you don't like stuff we pick." I suggested. Divine nodded, glaring at James as she turned around. We followed Divine through the store and eventually we had everything we needed.

-

I was worried to be honest, here I was, sitting in the car outside mum and dad's house. They would either totally hate the idea or totally love it. The fact that either one could be decided in a split second, scared the shit out of me.

"Daddy, what are you waiting for?" Divine asked, I flicked my eyes up to look at her through the mirror. "Nothing," I stuttered out. "I was just thinking..." Divine simply nodded and watched me as I got out and walked over to her side. I unbuckled her from her carseat and put her on my hip. I slammed the door and ran to the porch.

It was raining again, our one day of sun was over and now it was pouring again. It was always like this for some reason, Mother Nature was upset over something, but seriously, did she have to take it out on us?

I put Divine next to me and took a deep breath, before opening the door with my key. I grabbed on to Divine's hand and walked her into the living room. "Sit here and play." I told Divine, sitting her down, taking out her horse and doll. "Just stay here, okay?" I said, she looked up at me, then smiled. "Okay, daddy." If this doesn't go well, at least I'll have her.

I stood up and went up the stairs, it's okay, I don't have to go fast. I felt as if the McDonald's I just ate was coming back again. Oh God, please help.

"Mum? Dad?" I yelled, going into the office first. There mum was, sitting at the iMac, typing away. "Daniel! Hi!" She smiled. "Mum, I have news..." I trailed off, keeping my eyes away from her. "What is it, I have to take a call in about ten minutes, but I can talk until then." She replied, turning her chair towards me.

"Well, um... I-I..." I stuttered out, just say it! "Nine minutes." She sighed, rolling her eyes. "I have a daughter, she's two and a half, and her mum is in jail." I blurted out in one breath. "What?" She asked. Damn, too fast. "I have a kid, she's two and a half, and I have full custody, since her mum is in jail." I sounded like a crackhead saying that out loud.

"Are you serious?" She asked, I nodded. "Daniel, seriously, you can't be a father! You can barely take care of a plant! You suck at cooking and  you didn't even want to get married! Daniel, you like getting high! You can't get high then come back and try to take care of a kid! That daughter of yours is gonna grow up shitty, you can't do this!" She yelled.

Ouch, that hurt. I wanted to hit her for calling me a bad dad. I have done fine in these two days! I could hire a babysitter to watch her while I get high! Or not get high at all! My blood was boiling and only kept getting hotter as she yelled at me. She kept on going and going about how bad Divine will grow up. Except she didn't use Divine's name, she either used it, she, her.

"She has a name." I said through gritted teeth. "I bet it's something that damn mother named her! It's a stupid name isn't it!" She yelled back.

I rolled my eyes, before turning around and going downstairs. "Don't roll your eyes at me!" Mum came down after me. "Guess what, I just did!" I shouted.

I went over to Divine, who had he hands over her ears. She probably won't ever look at me again. I put her doll and horse in her backpack, while my mum still screamed. She acted like a monster, I haven't ever seen her act like this. Ever. She's gotten mad before, but never yelled this bad. "Stop! You are scaring her!" I yelled.

"Get out and leave your key." She said, lowering her voice. I threw my key at her, before walking out the door, slamming it behind me. "Are you okay Divine?" I asked her. She didn't reply, just looked up at me.

"Go, she doesn't bite. Don't forget to whisper."

I bent down to her level. "Are you alright?" I whispered. "Yeah. Don't yell again, daddy." She whispered back. "Okay, I won't. Don't worry." I smiled. Divine wrapped her arms around me.

Remember that old saying about how all you need is your family and how your family will always be there?

That's true.

But now, my family is Beau, Luke, Jai, James, and Divine.

"The family is a haven in a heartless world."
