Richard's POV

Ever since I was assigned to Detective Reed, he has been getting even more cases, causing Detective Reed to be a lot more stressed. I do feel bad, because of me being his new partner, he has been getting a lot more cases. However, Detective Reed is, well, a bit of a dick. He disrespects me constantly and abuses my prototype whenever I am not around. So, I don't exactly feel completely bad about him having more cases.

Me and Detective Reed have been especially busy with a specific case though. The case is centered around an adult female android, killing a 3 year old male child. The child was adopted by the female android and does not have any outside connections except the female android, his mother. This is making it very difficult for us to find out who the female android was and has left Detective Reed with many sleepless nights.

I looked at my internal clock. 9:38 pm. It's way past the time we are supposed to go home. I look over to Detective Reed, making sure he is not slacking off on his work, instead I see him looking very stressed. His eyes seem to be a little watery and his heart rate is increasing at a concerning rate. I was about to speak to him, asking if he was alright but before I could ask, Detective Reed lets out a shaky, rough sigh. He looks over to me, his face is beat red and tears forming around his eyes. My LED shines red for .25 seconds but soon starts circling to a soothing blue.

"Detective Reed, are you alright?" I tried to sound concerned but I do not believe it worked since right after me saying it, Detective Reed shot a rather rude glare into my artificial eyes.

"God, Richard." Detective Reed groaned, he ran his hands over his face and pressed somewhat hard onto his eyes. "I'm fine, I'm fine. You don't have to fake being nice to me you know.. I know.. I know I'm not nice to you, you don't have to fake it Richard." He presses down harder onto his eyes. It looks like he wants to shove them back into his skull. My LED circles red again, but does not go back to blue this time, but a golden yellow.

I read Detective Reed's heart rate again, it is not slowing down. I start to think of ways to calm Detective Reed down, knocking off choices that have a low chance of going well. The one that seems the best is... questionable..

-HUG GAVIN-

I ignore it, my software may be malfunctioning. It makes sense, I have never once tried to comfort a human besides from getting answers from them. The next option was to ask what was causing him stress, so I do just that.

"Nothing you need to worry about tin can. You're nothing more than android anyways, you don't understand feelings. You don't understand anything.."

"Maybe not, Detective Reed, but talking about your emotions may relieve some pent up stress you may be feeling." My tone was calming and I was ready for Detective Reed's anxiety to go down but instead, it had just stayed the same.

"Just fuck off Richard. You really honestly don't know a god damn thing. Why don't you androids just continue to not feel feelings. To not be burdened by them. To be perfect.."  When Detective Reed was talking, he lifted up his hands from his face, revealing dark, puffy under eye bags. He faces me, and the next thing I see is tears rolling down his face.

"Just please... Leave me alone Richard." And with that, Gavi... I mean Detective Reed began to walk away. Seeing his back, lonely back, I started to reach out.

As I begin to reach out, I am stopped by a wall reading "LEAVE ME ALONE. LEAVE ME ALONE." I stare back at it with confusion. What is going on? Why am I not allowed to comfort Gavin? Why am I being stopped? I punch the screen. No damage is done. I punch it again, adding a little more force, yet nothing is happening. I need to comfort Gavin. He needs help. He needs my help. I kick it. Punch it. Elbow it. With each blow I can feel the wall crumble in front of me. My mind is consumed with one mission.
