Philip died in my arms.
The doctors couldn't do anything to save him. Stupid undeveloped medical technology.
All he could do was just lay there in excruciating pain, waiting to die.
For 12 hours.
"It was stupid of me to think I could do this" He suddenly says, but his voice was very soft and weak.
He continued. "God, I even forgot how to count. I'm so sorry, Y/n. For doing all of this to you. You don't deserve this. God, You don't deserve me"
Tears pricked my eyes. I didn't deserve him?
"Don't say things like that" "I don't want to avoid the obvious. I'm dying, goddammit"
This time, you said nothing and let him continue.
"I wanted to give you this, but it doesn't have any point now. I'm so sorry, Y/N"
He reached in his pocket and handed me a small black box.
When I opened it, there was a beautiful golden ring inside.
I was so overjoyed, I hugged his crippled body tightly.
Even though he was in a lot of pain, he still made the effort to hug back.
Then, slowly, I felt him grow weaker and weaker until his grip was nonexistent.
When I pulled away, his eyes were open. Instead of their mesmerizing light green color, They were dull and lifeless.
Philip was gone.
Tears spilled out of my eyes slowly at first, Then faster, followed by sobbing as I reached for his body, shaking him and screaming "Wake up! Wake up! Please!"
Eventually, doctors had to force me out of the room. I leaned against the door, wanting to go back in, but something held me back.
A hollow feeling took over my body, slowly taking over and swallowing me whole.
Everything is dull and lifeless.
Just like his eyes when he died.
