Chapter 1: Living Art
T aehyung sat in the window of his small art studio, that he tend to spend more time in than at his own home, looking down at the beautiful yet ugly city. He looked up as the ivory moon shone brightly through the black clouds as the wind chill his delicate skin.
Looking back down he noticed people going in and out of an art gallery that was located down the street from his studio. He then went back inside and putting on his jacket before walking out the door and taking an elevator to the last floor. He walked down the street towards the gallery gripping his thin leather jacket as the wind blew chilling his tan skin. He started speed walking towards the building before the wind could pierce his skin any further.
When he entered he saw a sea of older, well dressed people walking around while looking at many paintings hung up on a wall. He didn't care that he was dressed casual he only cared about looking at the art at the moment. As he was walking he frozen as if he was under a spell as he looked at what he thought to be one of the most beautiful paintings he seen of a girl with the most beautiful skin and her large hazel eyes as she looked at her canvas as she paint a picture of a man.
The painting portrayed her beauty and flaws so beautifully, even the texture of her wooly black hair was greatly detailed that he can feel it just by looking. He didn't know whether he was more captivated by the painting or the girl in the painting herself. He then got a little annoyed after being interrupted by a lady in a suit standing in front of the painting, blocking his view.
"How are you liking the gallery?" She looked at him smiling as Taehyung gave a forced smile trying to keep from snapping at her.
"Umm... the painting... they're beautiful." Taehyung looked around and noticed a lot of the paintings were of that girl.
"Oh, what's your favorite painting?" The woman asked him putting her hand behind her back as she leaned in to hear him over the crowd."Ummm... I don't know. This is my first time seeing these paintings." Taehyung told her still a little distracted by the painting behind the woman.
"Well, this is my favorite one." She said pointing at a painting he was looking at.
"Why is that?" Taehyung admired the painting once more.
"I don't know, maybe it's because he captured his daughter expression so well. And this was also his and her last painting." The woman said."Daughter?" Taehyung asked now interested in what she was saying.
"Yes, well his step daughter but she took his last name. After this painting he ended up dying from lung cancer and she was so devastated that she ended up not being able to paint anymore." The lady told him. "It's actually sad how she wanted to sell what's left of her father."
"She's selling these?" Taehyung asked her. "How much?""Yeah, the cheapest one is 100,000 usd." She told him and Taehyung almost choked when he heard it.
"Who is the artist?" He asked her.
"Hyun Jaebum." The woman told him smiling and Taehyung looked at her with wide eyes.
"The Hyun Jaebum? How couldn't I recognized any of these as his?" Taehyung asked her.
"Maybe because he didn't really showcased his family and his style seems different when he's painting his daughter." The woman said shrugging. As the woman was talking he noticed a girl that quickly caught his attention standing behind her. A girl with round hazel eyes that you could see your reflection in even from far away, with skin the most beautiful color of sepia brown he has ever seen. He couldn't help but feel a strong attraction towards her pulling him along as she walked past him and the woman looked at him confused.
"Oh, that's his daughter right there." She said placing a hand his arms making him snap out of his trance. "This more recent paintings were ones he painted knowing that his death day was near."
