Pain

I wake up to my alarm blaring and I hit the snooze button. I sit up rubbing my eyes and yawn loudly as I swing my feet over the side of my bed. I look into my closet and see that I have literally nothing to wear. I grab a cut T-shirt and sweatpants and throw them on. I go to the bathroom and brush my teeth extra good today cause you never know when Josh could kiss me again. I put my hair in a braid and put on my chuck Taylor's as I grab a granola bar to eat on the way to school.

I sit in English and wait for him to come in. He doesn't. I keep waiting and waiting and waiting. Still no Josh. His friends are sitting in dead silence and I ask the wear Josh is.

"Hey, where's Josh?" I say in a worried tone.

"Did you not hear?" Trevor asks concerned.

"No, what happened?!" My voice starts to get higher with every word.

"He got into a car accident when he was going to the store to buy someone flowers. Who was it again?" Trevor asks his group.

"He said it was for you Emily!" Chris stands up and says.

"Why would he do that? We aren't even dating!" I exclaim.

"That was going to be his way of asking you..."

My eyes start to water and I ask the teacher to be excused. She nods her head and tries to follow me out. I just push her away and walk out of the classroom to the parking lot. I get into my car and just sit there staring off into the distance. I don't know what to do except stay in my car to wrap my head around things. I get a call from someone and pull my phone out from my pocket. It's Josh! I immediately pick up and ask him a series of questions.

"Oh my gosh, are you ok? What happened? Why would you do that? What were you doing?" I said giving him no time to speak.

"Hey, I'm fine." He winces as he says it.

"No, you're definitely not fine, I hear it in your voice. Now get some rest and don't call me again until you feel better."

"I-" I hang up and take a deep breath before I look  at my phone to realize that it's lunch time already. I take my keys and put them into the ignition. The only thing that can cure me, is some Chick-fil-A. I start the car and head there before anyone can say "eat more chicken." I park in the lot and go inside to order. I get a call from Abby.

"Where the Hell are you?! I can't eat lunch alone!"

"I got some bad news and decided to go to Chick-fil-A!"

"Stay right where you are, don't order anything. I am going to be there in 5 minutes."

She hangs up and I take the phone from my ear. I sit down on the bench and wait playing with a stray piece of hair when I see Abby pull into the parking lot.
