I flung myslef onto the bed, clutching the book tightly in my hand as I let a sigh of relief.
I closed my eyes, focusing on my breathing to make sure I wasn't sounding irregular, the sentence rereading in my mind.
To end the effects of Blood, sacrifice of the user and the family member must be made.
Then, the power will jump to a random host.
It was clear what needed to be done, maybe the next user will use the power for good rather than bad.
But that means that I will break my promise with Jungkook...
Of course, fate always does this shit.
I know Jungkook is going to suspect something sooner or later, he's not stupid, but the least I can do now is pretend that nothing is happening.
Yes, nothing is happening.
I rose up, finally hearing the pouring rain falling onto the balcony outside.
Man, I haven't gone and flown in a while.
I haven't done anything in a while.
I looked at the cover of the book once again, wondering if I really have to trust the words of the book.
Is sacrificing my life really the only way?
Probably
I got lost in thought, staring blankly at the wooden floor.
Footsteps approaching the door snapped me out, and out of instinct I quickly shoved my book under the pillow and tried to act normal.
Jungkook entered the room, already changed out if his uniform with a light white t-shirt and navy jeans.
I quickly inhaled from the sight, trying to act as composed as possible.
"Hey..." he said, his voice trailing off, "you want food?"
I quickly nodded my head, standing up and dragging his elbow from my room.
Anything to get him as far as possible from the book.
————————————————————————
I sat silently at the stool. Watching him cook the ramen.I felt tense, not really able to relax as the thought of the book kept popping back into my head.
Sacrifice...
The thought of sacrifice never crossed my mind before, perhaps because I took my immortality for granted.
Well, I have already been alive for over 200 years now...
What is there to lose?
Everything
"Why are you staring at my back again? Thinking about some lewd thoughts?" teased Jungkook, his words snapping me out of my trance.
I barely managed to make out what he was saying.
"In your dreams." I retorted, as a bowl of ramen slid in front of me.
He walked around and sat beside me, his own bowl of noodles placed in front.
A silence fell over us.
I slowly picked up my chopstick, dipping the tip into the instant soup,
"Jungkook... what do you think is the purpose of our existance?" I subconsciously asked, the words leaving my mouth before I could realize what I've said.
Jungkook gave me a weird look, "Where did that come from?"
I replied with a sigh, "I don't know, I've been thinking about a lot of things..."
