"Hey, Luke!"

Luke looked up from his homework, seeing Michael enter the library and wave at him. He raised an eyebrow but waved back. "Where's Ash?" it was strange seeing Michael without Ashton and Ashton without Michael, cause it almost never happened.

"He's sick, I think," Michael answered shrugging his shoulders, sitting down on the chair across from Luke. He pursed his lips, leaning closer to Luke. "Uhm were you at that club downtown yesterday? Cause I swore I saw you." Luke's heart dropped and his heart started to beat faster. He didn't want him knowing he went to the club without inviting him and Ashton. He gulped before answering, "A-Are you sure it was me, cause- cause I don't recall being, uhm, at a club." he chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his neck. Michael shook his head, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah! Crystal thought she saw you, too! We saw you dancing, and leaving, with a guy..." Michael trailed off, lowering his voice a bit.

Luke tugged on his lip ring. Michael was suspicious, and he knew Luke had been acting weird lately. "Luke, is there something you wanna tell me?"

Luke could just lie and say that it wasn't him, or that it was just a friend. But, Luke was a terrible liar and Michael already had a suspicion. The blonde cracked his knuckles, before standing up, pulling Michael with him to a nearby empty aisle.

"What are you doing?" Michael asked, looking at Luke with huge eyes. "You have to promise me not to tell anyone, especially not Ashton. And... if you don't wanna be my friend after this, then fine. I don't care." Luke's voice cracked, he was trying his best not to cry. Because honestly, Luke did care, he loved Michael and considered him his best friend.

"And please don't interrupt me," he added when Michael was about to talk. The older boy closed his mouth and leaned against the wall, waiting for Luke to talk. He knew what Luke going to say, but he still wanted to hear it.

"I-I'm gay... Okay? I-I like boys. And I know you and Ash don't like... gays, but I'm still me, I just prefer guys over girls," Luke said quietly, before continuing, "And, I was at the bar, by the way. The guy I was with was Calum, but we're just friends. I think he's straight, anyway. You can insult me now." the boy lowered his head and waited for Michael to talk.

"Luke, I-I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I joked around with those hateful words, I actually don't mind gay people. My cousin is gay, I was the first one he came out to. Yeah, it still makes me feel a little weird, but I-I don't mind. Just need some time to get used to it."

Luke looked up, tears threatened to fall, but he blinked them away. Boys don't cry.

"Is it okay if I hug you?" he asked Michael, Michael, of course, nodded and opened up his arms, accepting the embrace from his friend. "Thank you," Luke mumbled into Michael's shoulder. "No problem, Blondie. And don't worry, I won't tell anyone."

"Thank you, Mikey."

-

Luke took a deep breath in through his nose and out through his mouth. "You can do this. They're just coming over for some coffee, then they'll leave," He whispered to himself. He wiped his clammy hands in his pants.

The blonde looked out of the kitchen window, seeing his parents pull up in his driveway. Luke took another deep breath, ruffling his hair, then making his way to his front door to greet his parents.

"Oh hi, Luke!" his mum exclaimed, instantly pulling her youngest son into a hug. "Hi," he replied, pulling away. His dad simply patted his back. "Nice to see ya, son."

The tall blonde invited his parents into his house and took their coats. Liz put down her purse that she had brought with her on the floor beside her shoes. She sighed. "You made it look so nice, Luke!" she commented and stepped further into the house so she was standing beside his couch.

Luke tugged at his lip ring with his teeth. "Uhm, so why don't you two take a seat on the couch and I'll get us some coffee." Luke forced a smile and hurried into his kitchen, to fix up a tray with some cookies and the coffee. Before returning to his parents, he took a few deep breaths, trying to calm his nerves.

Eventually, he returned to his parents and placed the tray in front of them. Liz quietly thanked him and took her cup up to her lips. "So how's university treating ya so far, son?" his father asked. The question took him back to when Calum asked almost the exact same thing, a small smile tucked at his lips at the thought of the tanned boy, he quickly snapped out of his thoughts, though.

"Erh, it's--it's going fine. I mean, it's hard," he paused to take a sip of his coffee. "But I manage." He purposely didn't mention the project he had to do with Calum. His dad hummed and snatched a cookie from the plate on the tray.

"So, Luke." his dad turned his attention toward Luke and asked the question he had been dreading. "Any girls at the university that have caught your eye?" Luke felt his cheeks heat up. "Uhm, no," he coughed. "I-I've been way too focused to think about getting a, ehm-- a girlfriend." the blonde pursed his lips with a slight nod. "Sure there isn't anyone?" his dad pestered.

Well, there is this boy that I like but you wouldn't approve.

Was what he wanted to say, instead, he said, "Yeah, I'm sure."  Thankfully, his mother came to his rescue and changed the subject. "Molly misses you."

After an hour or so, they left. Luke waved goodbye, then closed the door when he couldn't see their car anymore. He sighed and hurried to his home phone, found Calum's number in his number book and dialled it as quickly as possible.

"You're speaking to Calum, who am I speaking to?" Calum's soft, but raspy voice rung through the phone and Luke couldn't help but smile. "Hey, it's Luke. Uhm, my parents just left, we can work on the assignment now if you want?"

"Alright. See you in 2."

This was kinda short, I'm sorry. Buuut, I am slowly starting to gain motivation to write and I'm actually already thinking of a sequel to this book so that's cool.

Also, my little brother is listening to Youngblood right now.

Anyways, hope you liked this chapter! Tell me your thoughts in a comment if you'd like!
