"Adam, wake up!"
Someone was whispering my name, and shaking me urgently. "You're having a nightmare! Wake up!"
Slowly, my dream began to fade as I returned to consciousness, and my eyes fluttered open.
A dream! I rejoiced inwardly. It was only a dream! Oh thank goodness!
Whoever was waking me reached over and switched on a lamp.
"J–Jasper?" I asked softly. I looked around, confused. This wasn't the same hotel we were in at the beginning of the week. Were we kidnapped? What was going on?
"Where are we?" I asked, trying not to sound frantic.
"Don't worry." Jasper replied. "You're safe. We moved to a new hotel, remember?"
I slowly pushed myself into a sitting position.
A new hotel? Why did we– Ohhh.
The memories of the day before came flooding back.

And with those came the memories of my most recent nightmare. I furrowed a brow and frowned a little at the thought of it.
"What's wrong?" Jasper queried.
At first, I didn't reply. I knew telling Jasper about the nightmare was the right thing to do but it scared me so bad, I didn't even want to think about it!
"I..." I started, trying to find the words to tell him. It was no use. I couldn't bring myself to talk about it.
"Never mind." I sighed. "It was nothing."
Jasper gave me a hard look.
"No it wasn't 'nothing'," he returned. "It was about your nightmare, wasn't it?"
I winced at the mention of my bad dream.
"You wanna tell me about it?" He asked.
I hesitated.
I just wanted to forget the whole thing. But, he seemed determined to help.
So I nodded my head slowly and began.
"I-it just all seemed so...real!" I started. "W-we were back in the old hotel, a-and the whole scenario from yesterday afternoon was playing over again i-in my dream! I was horrified! B-but the worst part was when S-Steve got shot. I-I dreamed that he... he a-actually... died."

Jasper's gaze softened, and he put a hand on my shoulder.
"Look," He said. "I understand you're stressed out, so... why don't we pray about it?"
I took in a shaky breath and nodded my head.
Jasper was right. I needed to keep my focus on Jesus. That was the only way I was going to find any peace throughout all of this.
So I bowed my head, and we prayed together for a while.
"I have an idea!" Jasper said once we were finished. "Tomorrow, let's visit Steve in the hospital!"
"But...don't we have a interviews tomorrow?" I asked

"They won't last all day!" He replied. "Besides, I think we both agree that Steve is more important than those interviews."
"Definitely," I agreed. "Visiting Steve tomorrow sounds like a great idea!"
"Great!" He yawned. "Now please try to get some kind of rest. I'm so tired, I feel like I could sleep right through our interviews!"
I laughed quietly.
"Thanks, Jasper." I said after a moment's pause.
"That's what friends are for." Jasper smiled warmly. "Goodnight!"
"Goodnight!"
And with that, we went to bed.

"Adam, wake up! We're gonna be late!" I awoke to the sound of Jasper yelling in my ear.
The interviews can wait. I thought.
I forced my eyes open as the he kept calling me.
Yup.
There stood Jasper. And he had a...water gun?
What in the world does he need a—
My thoughts were interrupted when a steady stream of water hit me directly on the bridge of my nose and splashed into my eyes!
"Dude!!!!" I cried as I bolted upright in my bed. I tried to open my eyes again, but the sunlight was just a little too bright. And the water in my eyes only magnified its brilliance.

"My eyes!" I yelled. "The sun is burning my retinas!"
I tried to stand up, but because I was temporarily blinded by the sun, I didn't see the blanket that had fallen off of my bed as I'd gotten up. My foot slipped on it and I landed hard, hitting my head on my night stand, and my butt on the cold, hard ground.
Jasper burst into a fit of laughter. He was laughing so hard, I was pretty sure he might die from a lack of oxygen. That is, if I didn't get to him first.

"Wow! That might've been the funniest thing I think I've ever seen!" He exclaimed, while gasping for air. "That worked even better than I thought!"
I moaned and draped an arm over my now throbbing head.
"One of these days, Jasper..." I muttered under my breath.
I picked myself up and looked at the clock. It read eight o'clock a.m.
"What time do the interviews start?" I asked.

At this, Jasper burst into laughter again. He tried to calm himself down as he attempted to answer me.
"N-not...Not until...T–t–ten o'clock!" He managed between giggles. Then he started laughing for a third time.
"Jasper!" I exclaimed. "You told me we were gonna be late!! One of these days I'm really gonna— Oh never mind." I decided my sentence wasn't worth finishing, since Jasper was too busy having the laugh of his life.
Quite possibly his last one, too. I thought. But I soon found myself laughing along side him when I tried to picture just how ridiculous I must've looked.
Well since I'm up, I might as well get ready. I told myself.

I made my way to the bathroom and took a shower. Then I brushed my teeth, and got dressed. I pulled on my favourite blue jeans, and a white T-shirt. When I was done, I looked at myself in the mirror.
My eyes had dark circles around them, and my hair looked wild and unkept.
Geez! I thought. I look like an emo racoon that hasn't slept in ages!
I splashed some cold water on my face to wake myself up.
Much more pleasant than Jasper's way of washing my face.
Then I took to fixing up my hair. It didn't take much. Just a quick run through with wet hands and a small touch of hair gel.

When I was finished getting ready, I sat down on the edge of my bed and glanced at my phone. On it was a text from Breanne.
Ready to go for breakfast! It read.
We'll be on our way soon! I texted back. Jasper had gone into the bathroom so he could start getting ready. I knew he would be a little while, so I knocked on the door and told him I was leaving with Breanne, and would send him the name of the restaurant. Then I left.

That whole morning went by without a hitch! Breanne and I grabbed some breakfast at a restaurant, and were soon joined by Jasper. Then we spent the rest of the day doing a few interviews, and at about three o'clock it was finally time for us to go visit Steve.
