"Thank you, London!" I yelled into the mic. "And goodnight!"
I smiled brightly as the sea of people in front me erupted into screams and cheers. The words 'I love you, Adam!' came from somewhere in the crowd. I laughed, waved goodbye to the crowd, set my guitar down on a stand, and walked off the stage with my on-tour band members following close behind. I looked back at the stage just as its lights went out.

Normally this is when I'd lean back on a wall and sigh in relief, but not this time. I still had fans to meet and, being incredibly shy, that terrified me. Just the thought of meeting someone new made me sweat. I mentally went over what I was going to say to people for the millionth time, even though I knew it pointless. I knew from experience that as soon as I made eye contact with the first person to come, I'd freeze up a bit, and my mind would go blank.

"You okay?" One of the security guards asked me, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Huh? O–oh. Yeah. I'm fine. Just a little nervous."
That last part was a lie. I was more than just a little nervous.
"You'll be fine!" He exclaimed. "These people all love you! That's why they're your fans!"
   I sighed shakily and nodded.
Just then one someone else came running up to me. It was Jasper. He was part of my on tour band along with two other members named Steve and Breanne.
"They're here now, Adam," Jasper said. Before I could respond he grabbed me by the hand and dragged me over to the small crowd of lucky fans that had gotten backstage passes. As I rounded the corner, some of the fans, mostly girls, started screaming. I'd experienced this many times over, but it still startled me every time.

I quickly got over my initial shock, smiled, and greeted everyone.
"Hi, everyone!" I began, my voice taught and kind of high. As predicted, my mind had gone blank and now I was just winging it.
"Um, what'd you guys think of the concert?" Immediately everyone started yelling their responses at once.

"Woah! Woah! One at a time!" I laughed. It took a bit, but I eventually got them to calm down.
"Wow. Okay. Um... questions? Comments? Concerns?" Jokingly I added, "I certainly hope there aren't any concerns."
The fans laughed and my nervousness melted away a little. The fans asked things like 'do you get nervous before a performance?' and 'what's your favourite song that you've written?' and 'why do you like ice cream sandwiches and pizza so much?'
Things along those lines.

To finish it off, I took some pictures, gave out autographs, and had some short conversations with the fans. Then they all left. As soon as they were out of sight, I let out a sigh of happiness mixed with relief and exhaustion. I walked over to where my crew was and and collapsed on the floor with them. I knew that despite my insomnia, I'd sleep well tonight. Suddenly my stomach growled and I realized how hungry I was.

"Hey, guys," I started excitedly. "Let's go to a restaurant tonight to celebrate the first of our two concerts!"
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"What place did you have in mind?" Asked Breanne, one of the musicians.
"Well I did see this pizza place not far from our Hotel," I replied as we got up and headed towards the backstage exit of the concert hall.

   Everyone laughed.
"Of course you did, Adam," Breanne exclaimed. "And let me guess. They had ice cream sandwiches there too?"
"Ha!" I laughed as we made our way to the backstage exit. "I wish!"
I opened the door to find four cops standing there, their faces darkened with concern.
Everyone fell silent.

"What's going on?" I queried. The first officer pointed at me.
"Are you Mr. Adam Young?" He asked.
"Yeah..." I replied, hesitantly. The officer stepped closer.
"You're going to have to come with us."
"...U–um..." I glanced back at my crew. They looked worried too.
"O–okay...?"
"Good." The officer replied flatly. He gave a slight nod to two of his other comrades, and they grabbed both of my arms. I decided not to fight them as they lead me towards the car.
I looked back at my friends again and gave a small, unsure wave. My head swam. What was happening? Was I getting arrested? Why?
"Don't worry." The officer said, his voice softening a little. "It'll only be a little while. You'll be out before you even know what's happening."
Huh. Probably true.
