The hour that Charlotte and Dante spent in the gardens went by in a blur, the pair spoke about the ball that was bound to take place in just a few hours. He soothed her anxious words, providing the much needed support to the future Queen.
His lips even found hers under the canopy of pastel colored flowers.
Dante knew Charlotte would be the beaming light she always was during the ball -- she was the Queen the people needed, he was confident in her ability to be just that.
The pair even took a circuitous route back to the Kings quarters, allowing each other the much needed alone time before the rush and pressure hidden behind the ball. As they reached Charlottes bedroom, she took a shaky breath.
"Are you sure that tonight will go well?" Charlotte asked him as they stood outside her bedroom door. Dante shook his head, reaching out to push a strand of pale blonde hair behind her ear. "You'll be amazing, ἀγάπη. I know it. Now go and get ready, I'll be waiting." Dante spoke tenderly before placing a brief kiss on her full lips.
A blush formed over her cheeks, nodding softly at his words. "I just hope I look okay in the dress." Charlotte muttered anxiously, to which Dante chuckled softly.
"Darling, you could show up in anything, and still look mesmerizing." He reassured, a smirk tugging at his lips as he caught the pink flourish on her cheekbones. "I will be here when you are ready, ἀγάπη."
Charlotte bit the inside of her lip as she twisted the handle to her bedroom door, peering back at her cheeky mate before she stepped inside. She wondered what he might wear to the occasion. Upon her entrance to her bedroom, three woman stood by her bed, all wearing black dresses, and black heels. Charlotte had clearly been startled, her emerald colored eyes widening at the sight of the women.
"We're here to help you prepare for the ball, miss." The brunette spoke, a bright smile on her lips, answering the unspoken question that Charlotte had conveyed. Charlotte nodded skeptically, pushing her long blonde stands of hair behind her ears.
"We're also your ladies in waiting as long as you'll be staying within the palace." Her emerald eyes shifted to the woman with black hair, her brows furrowing slightly. Charlotte didn't like the idea of having maids after being one for countless years.
"Can you introduce yourselves please?" She asked softly, to which the brunette nodded.
"I'm Emily," The brunette spoke, Charlotte nodded, then the black haired woman spoke, "I'm Noelle," She nodded again, taking note of their physical appearances, it seemed none of them had been treated as she had. "And I'm Lilliana." The last woman who spoke was older than the other two, grey streaks standing out against her midnight black hair, maybe she's the head of the trio.
