Jane
Chapter Five
My name is Jane, I'm 26 years old and I'm living with my parents. I'm different from the other girls in town. Those other girls love to admire a guy just by the guy's features. They don't even care about feelings, as if they even know the word feelings anyway. I wasn't that kind of girl.
I want a man when he respects me and he would always do something romantic to empress me. I want a man that doesn't look at another girl although that girl is better looking than me. I want a man that always says that he loves me deeply and always will go gently on me. I want a man that can supports the family we have. I want a man that always spends time with me. I want a man that never says lies. I want a man that doesn't care about my looks and fall for just for who I am.
That's the kind of man I want.
I know I have grown to be a beautiful woman and I always have known that and I don't want to waste my virginity nor my time to a guy that doesn't love me and only loves how I look to them. I was a head cheerleader when I was in high school. I always notice that my cheerleader friends were always dating guys that were from the football team. Sure, you can say those guy are totally hot but like I say, I don't care about looks I just want to know the guy I'm with loves me and I loves him too.
My friends always said that it's an embarrassment knowing that I'm still virgin. I don't care about what my friends said about me because I'm saving it for the right man, the man that will love me just for who I am not because of my looks. And I forget to tell you, I never dated before. Don't believe me? Sadly it's the truth. I'm waiting for him, just for him.
There was a day, my mother talked to me about me being single and never bringing a man into the house. I just told her "I wasn't seeing anyone". My mother held my hands and told me "We'll be patient. I know the right man is out there somewhere but his not arriving today nor tomorrow but someday he will." I cried at the words of my mother. She understood my heart. She knew I was waiting for the right guy because she had to wait for the right man to get married when she was young and the lucky guy was my dad. Until now, their still are a happy couple.
After University, I'm a teacher in a college located in New Bern, North Carolina. I taught there for 4 years and never did take any holidays. This was the first holiday for me. I took a 2 weeks holiday because I needed time for myself not only for teaching. I came back to Lusana because my parents are living there and are managing an antique shop. I took care of the shop mostly of the days because I have no where to spend my time anymore.
I loved to be in the antique shop. When there weren't any customers, I would have an adventure inside the shop. The shop was filled with ancient antiques, statues, scrolls, vases and all those other ancient stuff.
One day, when I was sitting in the counter reading a novel that was written by an author, Nicholas Sparks. The title was "The wedding."
I did hear the door open but I didn't see who it was I just continue to read my novel. Then suddenly there was a shadow in front of me. Then I asked the shadow without even looking up who it was.
I said "Yes? Are you finding something?"
"Yes, I'm finding a box that contains a paper inside." The man told Jane.
The shadow was belonged to a man "A box, what does it look like?" I was still flipping the pages of the novel and was waiting for his answer. The man said "That's the problem; I don't know how it looks like."
This time I was curious, I closed the novel and put it down on the counter and took off my reading specs. I look up at him and he was smiling to me as I was looking at him. He was the one, the man I was waiting. This feeling is different, he was shining. I didn't know it was the sun of it was my imagination.
The man coughed and said "Sorry if I bothered you reading your novel, I can come back tomorrow if you want to." I snapped from day dreaming and said "No, no need. I was just thinking of something. Here, follow me. You can find boxes in this way." I was growing nervous when he was following me. He was totally the right man; he didn't even say "Hey beautiful." That word.
I showed where the antique boxes were at. I took the ladder out because some were at the top shelf. I climbed the ladder and took the antique boxes down. When I wanted to climb the ladder, I felt the ladder vibrant and all the boxes were in my hands slipped. Everything was falling, even me. The man saw me falling. He quickly and caught me and the next thing I know I was in his arms. I was in shocked; I didn't know what to say I just stared at him with my eyes looking at his. He was also looking at me and I can felt his breathe touching my face. I thought I saw his cheeks getting red. He quickly put me down and I went to face the other side. Both of us didn't know what to say so we just stayed quiet. I broke the silence so I coughed and said "Thank you for helping me. I'm sorry to make this happen." His head still facing the other side and he said "You're welcome and no need to be sorry for the fall. It wasn't your fault. It should be mind because I should have be the one climbing that ladder. That's what a man does right?"
I laughed at his hilariousness. I quickly stared at the floor where the antique boxes landed and apparently it broke to pieces. I quickly went to the back of the room and grab the broom and started to sweep the glasses away. He turned to me and he helped me out. When we were picking some of the smaller broken glasses on the floor, our hands touch and this time my face was red. I smiled back and he smiled back too. When we were finish, we were both exhausted and we smiled to each other as If nothing happened.
My eyes wide opened and I said "Weren't you finding a box that contains a piece of paper?" I can see he forgotten why he came here because he had a confused face for a moment but he remembered it anyway. He quickly searched the entire boxes for the paper. After for a few minutes, he came to my way and said he found it. I smiled at him and said "I'm glad you did. That paper must be important." He nodded. He thanked me for helping him and I said "It was just nothing. I didn't do anything I just made trouble by falling." He laughed and when he was reaching the doorknob he stopped and turned to me and said "Are you free tomorrow night?" I quickly nodded without answering. He said "Want to get a dinner together?" I said "Yes!" Then I blushed and that was when I knew I fell in love with him. He said again "My name is William. William McGraber; nice to meet you." He smiled. I smiled and replied "I'm Jane, Jane Kelly and nice to meet you too." We shock hands. He said to me "I'll pick you at eight." I just nodded and he went out of the shop.
I saw he was very happy because he was jumping like a ten year old outside of the shop. I giggled and went back to the counter to continue my reading.
