In the few hours of following Hanzo around, Jesse had learned two things:

One, he can walk fast. It's no wonder it took so long to track him down.

And two, he had lost his tracking device. It was safe to assume it fell off of him when Hanzo had pinned him down, but who's to say.

They had been walking for a while, and it was past noon. The sun was beating down on them, and they were near the edge of town. Feeling bold, McCree decided to speak up.

"Y'know, ya never really told me where we're goin'."

The ravenet spared a glance at him. "The destination isn't important. What matters is how we get there."

He couldn't help but snicker at the proverb. "Alright, then how are we gettin' there?"

The answer he received surprised him. "There's a train station on the outskirts of town. We can get a ticket and then head for the coast. If time permits, we'll catch a steamboat to another country."

Many questions popped into the cowboy's head, but the first one to come out of his mouth was, "How're we gonna get a ticket?"

Hanzo looked back at him. "Got any money?"

A pause. The Asian turned back around. "Then we'll pickpocket."

Jesse was shocked by the suggestion. Granted, he had stolen before, but it had been years since then. He knew that he would have to wipe the surprise off his face soon - he was undercover, after all - but it still caught him off-guard. Without thinking, he mumbled, "Where did you go wrong...?"

The Shimada smiled at him; a sad, forced smile. "That's a question I ask myself every day, McCree."

They fell quiet again. In another half an hour, they had made it to the edge of town. The train station was in their line of sight, but was still a mile away. Suddenly, Hanzo asked a question.

"What about you, cowboy?"

"Hm?" He looked over at the archer, confused.

"Where did you go wrong?" He said the question softly, so softly the southerner wasn't even sure he heard it right. A few strands of hair were coming loose from the Shimada's bun, and the brunet instinctively wanted to fix it. He quick shut that idea down and answered the question.

"Oh, y'know. Prolly started when I was in the Deadlock gang."

The other perked up at this. "Deadlock? That sounds familiar..."

"They sold illegal military weapons," he said bluntly. "'Til they got caught. I left a lil' before then, when the Arakaki offered me a position."

Hanzo's eyes met his. "And that position was...?"

He couldn't help but grin. "Bodyguard and escort. For members of the Arakaki, future members, and allies." He looked away and pulled out a cigar. "I'm assumin' you're the latter."

The ravenet looked away, looking ashamed. "You assumed correctly... But I am surprised they hired someone who isn't multilingual."

"I am too," Jesse said, rolling with whatever the Asian threw at him. "Then again, bodyguards aren't expected t' talk. I mean, I'm bilingual, but still. I guess it was so the people I'm escorting can't convince me to help them escape or somethin'."

The archer glanced back at him, a smug look on his face. "Let's hope I don't do that..."

"Oh honey, you could convince me to do anythin'."

That's when Hanzo scoffed and picked up the pace. "No more questions. We must move."

It was then that McCree learned two more things:

One, Hanzo does not like to talk about himself.

And two, that was going to make things a lot harder for the both of them.
