THE CARRIAGE WHEELS jumped as it hit a pothole for the umpteenth time, making Laxus and his team jump with it. The sky had grown clouded as they journeyed to Oak Town, a weeks trip from the town they called home. The reason for their travel was that Oak Town was the home of their client, Mister Enguerrand Pola and his wife, Yamari.

For everyone's safety, we need Fairy Tail wizards to help us stop F/C Mania from going on her rampages. Reward: $400,000,000 jewels.

Laxus only heard whispers of F/C Mania, but he knew she was a guild master of some spider guild. He'd also heard of the destruction she'd left behind while out and about or even while inside her own guild. The destruction was nothing compared to Team Natsu's damage, but Team Natsu didn't intentionally hurt people and send them to hospitals.

He had no idea how she was able to get away with all this, but no one ever batted an eye when she destroyed a building full of civilians or when she somehow threw a magic-mobile through a house yet the council was always up Gramps's backside when Natsu and his friends obliterated anything. It didn't make any sense.

Laxus felt the bile rise to his throat as the carriage went up and down once again. Almost there, he told himself. They were almost there.

He couldn't deny it though; the destruction that F/C Mania was described to have caused reminded him a lot of what happened back then. With his mother, grandmother, and Jason. It's the reason he took the job in the first place.

What if this was her? What if Y/N L/N, the quiet little girl that tagged along with him and Jason, was F/C Mania?

Even Mira had given him a knowing look when she approved it. She wasn't around when it happened, but she'd accidentally heard him and Gramps talk about it one day and they just filled her in on the whole thing.

"Be mindful, Laxus." Mira Jane said softly to him as she gave him the job. "We don't know for sure what happened that day. If you see her—"

"I know," he whispered back as his team came up behind him. The Thunder Legion didn't know that part of his past. It wasn't something he liked to talk about and who would? That sort of topic you can't just bring up in casual conversation.

The driver had taken them right to Mr. Pola's stone mansion. It was a lovely home with loads of greenery and a large fountain in front with a pebbled path leading them around it and to the mahogany double-doors.

A teenage girl was the one who answered the door, her blonde hair flowing to her shoulders--the tips dipped in silver. Her bright indigo eyes held nothing but warmth as she let them inside, her fancy ball-gown dress swaying as she led them further into the house.

The inside was spacious and covered in red. Red rug stretching for miles, red curtains, red table runner. With the antiques on display throughout the house and older fashioned furniture, Laxus dared to say this place looking like an ancient castle. However, from the distaste on Evergreen's face and tiny comments, he'd say she wasn't exactly thrilled about the place.

"My name is Demi Pola," the girl said with a smile on her face as she gestured them to take a seat on their dark brown couch, "I am the first-born of Enguerrand and Yamari Pola. You are the Fairy Tail wizards answered my father's request?"

Laxus brow rose, "You let us in without knowing who we were?"

"Well, yeah. You looked trusting enough."

Laxus sweat dropped. Was she serious?

Heels struck the floor from another room before a middle aged women appeared in the living room with them. The woman's dark hair was braided into a crown, her dark purple dress more like second skin than a ballgown.

"Who did you bring into our home, Demi?" she asked.

Freed spoke up before Demi had the chance to. "We are the Thunder Legion from Fairy Tail. Are you Yamari Pola?"

The woman blinked, "Oh! Yes, I am." Yamari turned to her daughter. "Go fetch your father. He's in the office."

Just like that, Demi disappeared. Literally.

Teleportation magic, Laxus thought.

"Thank you so much for coming to us. Can I offer you a beverage or something to eat?" The Thunder Legion declined and Yamari sat on the opposite sofa. "While we wait, I can tell you a bit of why we asked specifically for Fairy Tail wizards. My husband may have submitted the job application, but I'm the one who urged him into doing so."

"Why did you ask for us?" Evergreen asked. "There are many guilds in Fiore who could've done this."

Yamari fiddled with her fingers, a sad and tired look on her face. "We did some research on F/C Mania and discovered she was a member of Fairy Tail when she was a child. We thought maybe seeing and talking to some old friends would make her stop."

Laxus nearly lost his breath. It was Y/N. But why was she being so cataclysmic?

A man entered the room not long after. His blonde hair slicked back and his tux tight on his body.

"Sorry for keeping you waiting," the man's ruff voice shattered the room. He sat beside his wife. "I'm Enguerrand. I'm the one that sent in the job application concerning F/C Mania."

"Can you explain the current situation?" Bickslow said, his babies flying behind him—echoing: "Explain, explain!"

"Yes; F/C Mania has been vandalizing and assaulting things and people at random since before she became a guild master. Just the other day, I attempted to observe her on my own. She walked into an alley where a man and woman were hanging out. She blew the man and the garbage cans behind them into smithereens. The woman was hit in the heart by the metal debris from the cans and was killed instantly."

"Gosh," Evergreen breathed.

Laxus could only stare in disbelief at Enguerrand. Y/N truly had done it then; she blew up his home and killed his family. But why?

Enguerrand continued: "After some research, I've discovered this wasn't the only time she's done something like this. She'd been taken in by a close acquaintance of mine, Mister and Misses Callaman—who mysteriously disappeared. Come to find out, they both were blown to pieces by F/C Mania when she was a child and there are many more in between.

"I don't know why the council's done nothing to stop this, but this can't go on. I know Fairy Tail is full of good people and that this sort of behaviour is condoned in your guild. That's why I'm asking you to stop her. I can't watch more lives be lost to her antics. I won't."

The Thunder Legion didn't even have to share a glance before they came to their decision.

"Of course, we will," Evergreen smiled. "We can't let one of our former members drag our name through the mud."

Freed, Bickslow, and his babies chimmed in agreement. Laxus remained silent, trying to figure out what in the world he was going to say to the little girl he'd once called a friend.

You know what I don't get? Wattpad has sections like Fantasy and Thriller and all this stuff, but not TRAGEDY. As much as I love a happy ending, you can never go wrong with a tragic one either. I absolutely love them, but I can never find them and it's actually a little upsetting (☹️).

Anyway, hope you enjoyed the chapter. Until next time!
