Grayson and I sat in class, talking instead of doing our English work.

"I just- I don't get it y'know? Things seemed good on Wednesday, but now he isn't talking to me again. I don't want to think he used me but that's how it seems." I threw my head back in frustration. After Ethan left my house the other day, he didn't speak to me again. Granted it was only Friday afternoon, so it's only been two days, but I tried to talk to him and he ignored me. It was aggravating. "Maybe he's in a weird mood. He doesn't seem mad at me, but it just seems weird he hasn't spoken to me much."

"He seemed... in a really good mood when he got home. Too good for someone getting grounded." Grayson said, my cheeks heating up at what he insinuated. "Speaking of, he was probably just distracting himself because being grounded it boring. But you never really know with him,"

"I'm sorry I bother you with all my Ethan problems. He is your brother after all,"

"We're friends, Heaven. I don't mind at all." He says sincerely. "Plus, believe me, I know how much of an asshole Ethan can be."

I smiled and gave Grayson a hug. His friendship was one of my favorite things I'd gotten from this thing with Ethan.

"So, are you going to Thompson's party tonight?"

"Are you kidding? Those things get insane. Last year 50 people were arrested- I'm staying home from this one. And Ethan's grounded so if I abandoned him for that he'd be so annoyed with me in the morning." Grayson shook his head. "Be safe if you go, alright?"

"I will! I'll be home asleep by 9am!" I said jokingly, but there was a hint of seriousness in my tone. He was right, a lot of shit could happen at the party, so I'd do my best to stay close to friends and get home safe- and before 9am, hopefully.

Noah, Eve, and I clinked our shot glasses together and downed the burning liquid. It tasted disgusting, but that meant it was strong.

"Wait! We have to do an extra shot in honor of Mia!" Eve gasped and poured us each one more. Mia couldn't make it to the party tonight, so we were without her. She would be missed.

This one party was where we went all out typically. Usually we might sip on some punch or have a bit to drink, but tonight we went harder than normal. Once a year, for this party, we'd go a little off the rails compared to usual.

I'd decided against party games this time, but I was still having fun. I found myself in one of the upstairs room with a few familiar faces, one being Alex. We were passing a few blunts around, the strong smell of weed filling the air.

Smoking wasn't typically my thing, but I was actually dragged in here by that Jill girl. She was much more tolerable when I'd been drinking.

Jill didn't wanna smoke alone since it was her first time, so I decided why not?

I inhaled deeply, letting the smoke enter my lungs. After a few hits, I was all set. This was probably the only day of the year I'd smoke. It was better than the coke or other drugs that people were doing downstairs.

It'd been about two hours, so things were really starting to get crazy. Every once in a while you could hear some extra loud commotion downstairs or outside and feel yourself get worried that something bad was happening.

"Heaven," Alex hiccuped, pulling me to the side. "I'm- I'm really sorry about those things I said. It wasn't cool,"

"Obviously," I mumbled, taking a sip of my drink. "It's okay, I'm over it. It's nothing most of the other kids haven't said anyway." Alex frowned, giving me a quick hug and mumbling more apologies. "Alex, it's whatever. I'll see you at school, right?"
