I walked with the others to the door. I looked at Gandalf as he opened it. The Dwarf outside looked at Towards us. I caught sight of his clasps. 'He's Thorin Oakenshield, king under the mountain' was my first thought followed by 'what is he doing here'. He had long dark brown hair that had a few silver streaks, a well built body and most stunning of all his dark blue eyes that I could have stared at all day.
"Gandalf," Thorin said "I thought you said this place would be easy to find, I lost my way twice, I wouldn't have found it at all if it wasn't for that mark on the door," I smiled at Gandalf.
"Mark Gandalf? Bilbo won't be pleased," I said smiling at him teasingly.
"Yes well, they needed some way to find you," he said "Halo this is," I cut him off.
"Thorin Oakenshield, king under the mountain," he raised an eyebrow.
"So this is our Hobbit," he said looking me up and Down "Axe or sword?" he asked.
"I'm more partial to throwing knives, but I can use a sword pretty well. An axe is a bit big for me wouldn't you think and besides, I have my whip," he looked at me with both eyebrows raised.
"Do you want to demonstrate?" he challenged. He obviously thought I was lying. I smiled.
"Bofur do you trust me?" I called not taking my eyes off Thorin.
"Umm yes, I suppose I do lass," he replied.
"Good now stay completely still," I called and swiftly pulled out one of my knives which within a second had Bofurs ridiculous hat was pinned to the wall behind him. There was a moment of silence. The others stared at the hat while I played with another one of my knives.
"What about this whip of yours?" Thorin said recovering first. I smiled innocently at him.
"Take a step back," he looked at me for a moment then took three big steps back. I reached to my belt and pressed the button holding my whip in place. I pulled it out and manoeuvred it around skilfully not hitting a single thing in the cramped space. Thorin looked unimpressed, but he didn't say another word. He walked into the dining. I fastened my whip back around my waist then followed. I got Thorin some bread and soup. He grunted his thanks and dug in.
"What news from meeting in Ered Luin, did they all come?" Dwalin asked.
"Aye, they came, envoys from all seven kingdoms," Thorin said with a nod. I watched intrigued from the hall.
"What do the Dwarves on the Iron hills say, is Dain with us?" Dwalin persisted. Thorin's face fell.
"They will not come," the whole room seemed to deflate "They say that this quest is ours and ours alone," I looked at Gandalf.
"Gandalf, you seemed to have neglected telling me what I'm getting myself into, would you mind enlightening me?" I asked sweetly. Gandalf stiffened then sent me to get a light. How like him.
