After their last song, the band walked off the stage. I was awestruck by their talent. They played all original songs and I couldn't help but fall in love with their music a little.

Luke was amazing. His vocal ability plus his talent on the guitar was just amazing. Occasionally he would make eye contact with me during a song and I was so mesmerized by him that I almost didn't stop Stacey from making out with some randomer - by the end of the set she was fast asleep behind the bar as per usual.

As the night drew to a close, people started filtering out. Stacey's boyfriend came to pick her up and wasn't surprised to have to carry her to his car.

    "One Blue Ribbon please"

I turned around to see Luke leant up aganist the bar in his nonchalant manner, a small smirk playing on his lips.

I placed the glass I was drying on the counter and proceeded to the chill cabinet.

"I'm technically not allowed to serve anyone after my shift is done but I think I'll make an exception for you" I said, popping the top off and handing him the chilled bottle.

"Tough night?" He asked after taking a swig, the question repercussing from earlier.

"Well, I met this really cute guy in the back earlier which wasn't so bad, but then I had to listen to this really awful band play for the past hour. I mean the lead singer couldnt sing, the drummer couldn't keep a beat, the bassist was eh-alright I guess and the other guitarist thought he was in a punk rock band. I've waisted my night here when I could have stayed at home and watched at least 6 episodes of How I Met Your Mother and eaten a whole tub of ice cream to myself." I looked up at Luke to see a small smile playing on his lips.

"You think I'm cute?" He smirked. I blushed.

"Out of all of that, that's what you pick up on?" I retorted, trying my hardest to hide my blush by picking up another glass and proceeding to dry it to keep myself busy.

"Well, see when a beautiful girl says I'm cute the only thing going through my head is that I may like said beautiful girl and life has taught me to act upon instinct. So then I may ask said beautiful girl out on a date." He took another swig of his beer, not losing eye contact with me once.

    "You think I'm beautiful?"

"Out of all of that, that's what you pick up on?" He smiled at me, his tongue poking through his teeth and it took all I had in me not to melt into a puddle right then and there.

"Touche" I turned my attention back to the glass. "That acting upon instinct thing is an awful way of living. What if you make the biggest mistake and can't take it back? What if you do something so stupid that it potentially can ruin a relationship or a person or maybe even you? Why would you do something without thinking? Don't consequences mean anything to you?"

"See, while you're thinking of the 'consequences' of your actions, I'm out actually getting what I want out of life. If you think too much, you live too little. You gotta go out and grab life by the tail. Go out, live and do instead of sitting and thinking too much. Life's too short to not do the things you dream of. That's why I'm in a band; my dream is music. Stop thinking Annalise; go out and do." He said it so seriously he sounded like a cliche, romanticized character from a John Hughes movie.

I placed the glass on the shelf and folded the tea towel neatly before turning again toward Luke.

"Don't you have any dreams Annalise?" He asked before reconnecting his lips to the bottle.
