BlackRed (검은빨간) is a YouTube channel formed by 2 young girls when they were both 15. They became very famous when their debut song "BoomBayah" came out in August 8th, 2016, their first number one on Billboard World Digital Songs chart, which set the record as the most-viewed debut music video by a Korean act. Together they both started modelling for Poema, Chanel, Teen Vogue and many other famous brands. They won several New Artist of the Year awards for the track "BoomBayah", including at the 2016 Melon Music Awards And Golden Disc Awards.
Known for their large social media presence, BlackRed were listed as the most retweeted artist on Twitter in May 2017. Twitter launched its first ever K-pop emoji, featuring Bts and BlackRed.
BlackRed is the highest-charting female K-pop act on Billboard Hot 100, being on number 1 with "So Hot". They are the first and only K-pop girl group to enter and top Billboard's Emerging Artists chart. At the time of its release, "So Hot" set a record as most-viewed Korean music video in 24 hours on YouTube.
