Emerson

"Now Newton's Three Laws of Motion describe to us the motion of massive bodies and how they interact..." Mr. Lloyd, my AP Science teacher, explains. I zone out on his voice and look at the clock.

I watch as time slowly ticks by. I watch the little hand go tick-tock, around the clock, as I tap my pen on my desk. I wait for the last bell to ring.

2:15... 2:30... 2:45... 3:00!

The bell echoes throughout our school and I gather my things. I stuff my notes into my overflowing bag, cross it over my arm and begin my departure from hell.

I stop at my locker quick and grab my jacket. I slam it shut to come face to face with Eve, my person... My best friend... My sanity...

"It's Friday!" She shrieks. I laugh and cover my ears with my hands.

"Sorry what? I couldn't hear you over the sound of that shrilling whale." I joke. Her smile fades and I laugh. "It's a joke, Eve."

"So I'm supposed to..." Her wrath gets cut short when we hear loud voices yelling down the hallway. We both turn our attention to the sound of their voices.

My brother and his group of friends are strutting down the hallway. They are pushing each other around and yelling about tonight's game. His eyes set on mine and my brother begins his way over to my locker.... With his posse of idiots.

"Hello little sis..." He greets, slinging an arm around my shoulders. He notices his friends give him a weird look and he drops his arm.

"Hi Ethan." I mutter. He smiles and turns to talk to his friend, Alex.

He has a lot of friends but his close group consists of five. Alex is one of my close friends, besides Eve. He always hung around and was always nice to me. Then there's Jace, a freshman and new to their scene... After him, are the twins, Mason and Max, who follow each other everywhere.

Finally, there's Ethan's best friend. His rock, his person. Benjamin Sawyer. Ben. A huge pain in my ass, but my secret childhood crush. All of them are seniors, except for Jace. Eve and I are juniors.

"You guys coming to the game tonight?" Ben asks, smiling at me with his gorgeous face. I hold back a blush and nod. I noticed Ethan gave him a glare, which caused Ben to lose his smile.

"Make sure Mom knows..." Ethan says, rolling his eyes. I turn towards him and glare.

"I'm seventeen years old... And since when did either of us ever need Mom's permission for anything?" I throw at him. It's the truth...

My mother is very separate from our lives. My parents divorced when I was 10. My life has never been the same since. My mom decided to busy herself after the divorce, so she works 24/7, 365. She misses Christmases, birthdays, and Thanksgivings. What a great mom right?

"Whatever... If you're coming, keep you phone on you and Ill give you a ride after the game... And please, be safe." He says before all of his friends make their way to the locker rooms. I give him a smile. He is a really caring brother, he just doesn't like to show it.

"Have I ever mentioned to you that I find your brother extremely attractive...?" Eve swoons besides me. I roll my eyes knowing full well that she has.
