Why didn't he kiss me?

That was my thought throughout our ride back. He has more than one opportunity to. Maybe he didn't want to. Maybe he doesn't like me like that...?

I shook those thoughts out of my head and continued down the highway. I could see Ben's head look at me every once in a while but he kept quiet.

I wanted him to kiss me. I wished he did but every time I thought it was going to happen... He bailed. Why?

I cleared my thoughts once more as I drove down his street. I shut the radio off and pulled into his driveway. I kept the car running. I parked my car and turned to him.

"So..." Ben started but I cut him off.

"Why didn't you kiss me?" I blurted out. He seemed taken aback by my outburst but I had to ask otherwise it would have eaten away at my mind. He cleared his throat.

"Uhm... I-I don't know really... I had every intention to, but I was worried it may be too soon." He explained. I rolled my eyes and let out a laugh.

"We slept together because of one drunken night and you're worried a SOBER kiss is too soon?" I said hysterically. His eyes widened and I laughed even harder.

"What?" He asked.

"I don't understand you sometimes..." I told him honestly. He chuckles and nodded.

"I just don't want to screw this up..." He answered. I stayed silent, not content with his response. He gave me a sympathetic smile and got out of my car. I watched him walk up to his house. I don't give him a second glance as I pulled out of his driveway and began my way back home.

I wanted him to kiss me...

"Ethan! I have to go!" I heard Eve shriek as I walked into my house. I went into the living room to find Ethan on top of Eve giving her kisses around her face. I turned away, neither of them noticing my presence, and ran up stairs. I changed out of my clothes and into pajama shorts and a sweatshirt. I slipped on fuzzy socks along with putting my hair in a messy bun.

Suddenly, there was a knock at my door and I opened it to find Ethan and Eve on the other side. Ethan gave me a smile and cleared his throat.

"I'm going to stay at Eve's tonight. Are you good here by yourself?" He asked me. I smiled at him, giving him a slight nod.

"Yes I'll be fine. Go." I told them. Eve gave me a huge hug and they both bolted down the stairs. I let out a breath as I heard the front door slam shut. I ran downstairs and went into the kitchen. I grabbed a water and a bag of kettle chips while taking a seat on the couch.

I picked some movie on Netflix and finally got comfortable when there was a knock at the door. I groaned and threw myself off the couch in the most melodramatic way. I marched over to the door and swung it open.

When my eyes cleared and focused in on the figure in front of me, my breathing hitched.

"Ben?" I asked.

"Fuck it." He swore and grabbed my arm, pulling me close to him. After half a second, his lips were on mine. Caught off guard, I didn't kiss him back. He wrapped him arms around me and I came to life, moving and molding my lips with his. I stood on my tippy toes to pull him closer to me.

After a beat, we pulled away; both of us were completely out of breath. He kept his arms around me and I set my forehead against his. I looked up into his eyes, a dizzy, light feeling warming my insides. The way he looked at me made me melt.
