"Hey Rach, Mercedes, Tina and I are going on a trip to the lake for about a week. Well, I mean you too if you agree to come. We're staying in my Lakehouse. That one that we went to with my family freshman year? My parents aren't coming so it's just going to be us. Do you want to come?" Kurt asks Rachel while they're getting coffee during the start of summer.
"Yeah, I mean, sure."
"You don't sound that confident," Kurt says, sipping his drink.
"No, I am. I just have a lot of memories there."
"What do you mean? With me?" Kurt asks.
"No. With Finn. We were dating while we were on that trip, ya know? So we did some stuff behind your back," Rachel blushes.
"Like what?" Kurt asks, scrunching his eyebrows.
"We just madeout sometimes when you weren't there. Like when we went paddle boating. Or one time when you were asleep I snuck into his room for a while," Rachel lists, remembering the trip.
"Oh, gross," Kurt scrunches his nose, pretending to be grossed out.
"Whatever, Kurt. Yes, I'll go on the trip. When is it?" Rachel says after she takes a sip of her tea.
"Tomorrow morning. We're leaving tomorrow morning." Kurt says.
"What is with you and your late planning, Kurt?" Rachel fake rolls her eyes.
"It's not that I have late planning. It's that since we're like always together, I assume that somehow I'm going to tell you the information, but I always forget. Ya know?"
Rachel laughs. "Okay."

"So you're all packed, sweetie?" Rachel's dad asks.
"Yes, dad, I'm good to go. I'll see you all in a couple days. I'll call you soon," Rachel gives each of them hugs.
"I love you, dads," Rachel calls as she carries her bag over to Mercedes' car. She has the biggest car, so they're going to the Lake house in it.
"We love you too," they call back.
•••••
"God, the last time I was here, I was only like 14," Rachel chuckles, looking around the house.
"Me too," Kurt smirks. Once all of their belongings are in the house, they hang out, and wait until dinner time. They go to the closest restaurant, and eat.
"Tomorrow is going to be a lake hangout day," Kurt informs them. And that happens.
••••"Guys, I love this. I love you all," Kurt says dramatically as he floats on the river.
"We love you too, Kurt," Mercedes and Rachel chuckle. Tina nods, smiling.
"Why are you staring at that paddle boat, Rachel?" Tina asks, following where Rachel's eyes have been for a long time.
"Oh, um, I just have a lot of memories there," Rachel sighs.
"Like what? Paddling? How is that even fun?" Tina asks.
"No. Memories with Finn. He first told me he loved me on that paddleboat," Rachel smiles remembering what happened.
"Ew," Kurt mumbles.
"It's not gross, Kurt. I think Finn and Rachel are adorable," Mercedes says. They get out of the water and dry off.
"I think we should go shower and then relax," Kurt suggests. They all agree. They agree on Rachel to take the first shower since she will take a long time in the bathroom anyway.
Once she's out, and changed into a new clean dress, her phone rings. The girls are all sitting on the couch in the main room, reading Kurt's magazines, waiting for him to finish in the shower.
She sees that it's Finn who is calling her.
"Hey," Rachel replies. It's been two week since he's called. He went on a camping trip with some of his friends where he couldn't bring electronics, so he didn't call her.
"Hey baby. I missed you. I still miss you. I really want to see you," Finn whines.
"I'll be back soon. You will be too. I'll see you then," Rachel reminds him.
"I know. I just miss you. A lot. I don't know why, but I miss you so much more than I usually do. Not that I don't usually miss you. I just, when I miss you, I know how to think about other things to pretend like I don't miss you. But today I just can't think about anything else besides seeing you," Finn sighs quietly.
"I miss you too. I'll see you soon. I swear. It's only about a week until you come back," Rachel says.
"Okay. I love you. I can't to see you," Finn says.
"I love you too. Bye," Rachel says, hanging up.
••••
Rachel spent the week with her best friends, laughing and having a good time.
When she returned from the mini-vacation, Finn was waiting for them in the middle of the Hummel-Hudson/Berry back yard intersection.
Kurt smiled and waived, but knew that Rachel was probably going to go attack Finn with a hug, so he stepped back.
"Hey," he greeted her, smiling, giving her a quick kiss on the lips.
"Hi," she smiled, kissing him back for a second before deciding he shouldn't make out with Kurt.
"We should all hang out together. I haven't seen either of you all in forever," Finn suggests.
"Ugh, fine. But I am not a third wheel to your little date. I want to be treated as an equal. No touching," Kurt ordered, making them laugh.
"We can hang out at my house," Rachel shrugged, letting the two most important boys in her life follow her.
••
"I just finished my outline for my 43 step program about making it to Broadway. Tomorrow, I'm going to detail it," Rachel mentions, making the two step-brothers laugh."God, you've always been the same," Finn chucked, kissing her on the forehead, making her blush.
"Is that a bad thing?" She asks, raising her eyebrows.
"No, no. It's cute, just like you," Finn grins.
Rachel rolls her eyes.
"Yeah, okay," she mumbles. They decide to play monopoly but they get bored and watch movies for a couple hours. Kurt goes home and leaves them alone later at night.
Rachel falls asleep with her head on her chest. When her dads find them, they smile and close the door.
Summer goes by quickly.
And it's good. Rachel loves Finn and she loves being with him and everything is good.
••
"I love you, babygirl. Call me, okay?" Finn says. He has to leave to go back to school."I will. And you should quit calling me babygirl. I'm 17, and hardly a babygirl anymore," Rachel mumbles into his ear.
"You'll never stop being my babygirl, Rach," Finn smiles, kissing her on the forehead.
Rachel smiles back.
Okay, she kind of likes the name. It's always been their thing.
