Brooklyn's POV

When Ace's father passes away my heart fell. I know I didn't know the man but the few moments I had alone with him were all I needed. He talked about his wife and how she'll need both Ace and I and how Ace has a big heart that's been stepped on.

I knew he was talking about 'her' the woman Ace brought up the night before we left. I reassured Richard that I wouldn't hurt Ace and that I'll always be there for him as well as his wife.

He said he knew how big my heart was just by looking at me. And that he'll be watching over us and any grandkids that come along. He gave me a soft smile and closed his eyes. I pulled his hand up to my lips and kissed it then whispered "I promise" to him.

When I came out of the room I had tears falling. Just a few but ace noticed right away. He asked if I was ok and I said yes. And how lucky he was to have Richard as a father. It made me miss my dad. And looking into his mother's sad eyes made me miss my mom too.

Ace and I were supposed to go back to our hotel room but I couldn't leave his mother alone.
"Why don't you come back to the hotel with us?" I asked.
"Or we can come to yours and dads place." Ace added
"You kids are amazing. I would actually love the company. Plus Ace I'll be needing your help with funeral arrangements. They will be held in New York." She said sniffling.

We got to the penthouse where Mary Anne and Richard live and it was absolutely stunning. Ace had our room at the hotel taken care of so that we would be staying with his mom the remainder of our visit.

"I'll show you to our room Brooklyn" Ace told me.
His mother went to the kitchen and poured us a few glasses of wine.
"I'm going to shower. That'll give you two time to talk about arrangements." I smiled then followed Ace to our room. Our bags were already in the room so I went to get a few things.

Ace stopped me and I looked up at him. We were staring at each other in the eyes then he pulled me for a hug

I felt his tears as he held me. I wanted to stay strong but I let out a few tears. He was in pain and I knew this pain he was in. When I lost both of my parents I only had Carter and Katie but they were pretty distant. Like they felt too uncomfortable to let me cry on their shoulders.
