Smoke was rising from the runway of the airport as it came into view. Overturned airplanes and helicopters littered the ground. It looked like a war zone. There were even several places on the building itself that were on fire.
Hal gave Alli a sideways glance as he lowered the chopper down behind a nearby building. "Let's go." He said authoritatively.
Alli nodded, ducked, and then darted to a building that was closer to the airport. She motioned for Hal to come. He quickly sprinted across the street to join her. He nodded towards the building, "You good?"
"Yeah, but just remember, if Magneto is messing with you, just holler, 'k?" Alli said with a wink.
"Okay. Go!" Hal responded, as he broke into a sprint. Alli followed him closely. They had made it to the doors and were hiding behind the columns in hopes of keeping out of the villain's sight. The glow of fire could be seen inside and screams and crashes could be heard. Alli widened her eyes and raised her eyebrows, but snuck to the door without hesitation when Hal gave the go-ahead. She slowly opened the door and crept through to see who was there and to assess the situation. Suddenly a large, metal countertop came flying at her. It narrowly missed her as it smashed into the wall above the doors, causing the wall to collapse.
A laugh sounded and Alli saw an older man in a red and purple suit floating near a group of citizens, police, and employees who were trapped in a corner. Sabretooth, Mystique and Abomination were closing in on the people in order to keep them contained. "Ahh, I see S.H.I.E.L.D. has chosen to send its younger, newer recruits for us to devour!" Magneto challenged, with a sinister laugh.
"Well, it's nice to finally meet you in person!" Alli countered sarcastically. She tried to act brave and focus on the task, but she couldn't help noticing that the wall that had collapsed covered the door, making it impossible for Hal to get in through that entrance.
Magneto had a grim expression on his face as he said, "So, you're alone, are you? Let's see how well they have trained you." With a motion of his hand he tore a TV screen off a wall and threw it at her. She scrambled out of the way and attempted to come at Magneto, but he brought a piece of the floor up in her way and forced her to stop. She looked around and ran in between two chunks of debris in order to go towards the citizens. But, Magneto anticipated her move and knocked her down with a computer he had picked up and thrown. As Alli was regaining her senses, Magneto sighed and said, "I see they have taught you well. I commend you for your effort, but all good things must come to an end." He turned and waved his arm in a circle, causing the magnetic field to react in such a way as to create an interdimensional portal.
Alli stumbled back in shock and horror. A memory suddenly flashed through her mind - her as a baby, being held by a woman with brown hair. The woman looked frantically around, then ran around a corner. She looked around until her eyes landed on a large, round door. She gently held Alli out in front of her, looked her in the eyes, smiled and said, "It's all going to be okay. Don't worry." She then flipped a switch. A humming sound began and the door opened, revealing a bright, purple, swirling doorway. She took a deep breath and stepped in. When she did, a bright light flashed.
Suddenly Alli snapped back into reality as a figure, clad in a metal skin, burst through the wall. It was Hal. He fought to get to her. He fought villains she had never seen before; villains that had come through the strange portal Magneto had just opened. One had a wicked grin and green hair; another wore a green suit with a golden cane in the shape of a question mark.
"Alli!" Hal screamed desperately. "Behind you!" She whipped her head around just in time to see a woman with a red and black suit and a white face hit her in the head with a baseball bat. She fell backwards and saw Hal frantically calling for backup as he fought his way towards her; then everything went black.
