So it all started with a family trip to the beach. Being the anti-social me, I tried to get out of it. But my mom is the most stubborn person there is in the world. And a 40 year old mom could undoubtedly over power a 16 year old girl. So she won me over by reminding me of the surfing possibilities.

I went to my room and changed into my bikini and beach shorts. I quickly brushed my hair and fashioned it into a loose fishtail braid right down my back. I was very surprised at the fact that it was so neat, since I was never good at that kind of thing. Dad called me down to head out so I picked up my wooden surfboard and sprinted down the staircase with it.

My brother, Jay, didn't shut his mouth on the hour long car ride to the beach. He literally only talked about some girl that happened to be in some of his classes. He was only 18 at the time. Still older than me, so of course our parents heard about our crushes all the time. They would end up screaming at us to shut up and go to our rooms sometimes. But at least I added emotion and tons of description to the crushes I had. Jay made the girls sound plain and boring. At least to me.

When we got there I almost do a leaped out of the car because I needed fresh air so badly. I didn't think I could stand another minute without the waves so I grabbed my board and swam out to the sea green waves. Once I got into a surfing competition and came in second place. I was unbelievably happy about my position. But that day the waves were strong than usual.

Beginners think that is the worst thing to encounter but it's not the worst by far. If anyone would heave known, it was me.
