*More romance and contains fluff (i guess?)
"Have you ever wondered where the missing people went? Not the stolen or physically missing ones, but those are no longer there mentally?"
I sat back in my chair looking at the sleeping figure in the hospital bed.
Everyday, after work, I would come and sit and speak to her. For so long I have waited for her to wake up, but she hasn't.
We have had bad days and good days. I remember days where I would come in and sob about something that would be completely irrelevant, and others where I would be so exited that I wished she would wake up and dance with me.
Today felt different though.
It felt like something good would happen. I had no clue what it was, but I felt extremely light next to her. This woman, my wife, was going to make it through her battles, and I was going to sit right here with her and wait for it to happen.
"I wonder where you are, dear. I want you to come back home to me. To us. Your family"
Maya POV
Every day, she would come and speak to me, and each day I would fall more and more in love with her.
I was surprised I could still hear her. It would seem that she would have left me by now.
For ten years she has come to speak with me, but of course, not all days were good. Her sobs would break my heart and I couldn't be there to comfort her. I remember one day she came in so distraught and heartbroken.
She cried and threw tantrums in this very room. The sound of her losing her own mind would make you think the building was falling. Then she told me that our daughter was in the hospital from a school bus accident and everything went down hill.
The steady beeping of my heart monitor ran off the charts and the world around me became dark and cold as if I were to be lost forever. I sat in the solemn atmosphere of this unknown place hoping for something to save me as I sank further and further down.
I heard Taylor had fallen on the floor having a panic attack. She screamed and kicked at the bed until the very large nurses from what I assumed scooped her up and sedated her. My own blood pressure and heart rate began to hit the heavens and I was losing oxygen quickly. Like my throat was closing and there was no space in my chest for me to have my own air.
Then everything stopped.
I could no longer hear the outside world. I couldn't even feel the vigorous shaking of the bed as doctors and nurses, the cardiologist, and respiratory therapists came in trying to revive me. But I knew they were. I was stuck in this place. No longer seeing white, but all black.
An electrical current flew up my back at one point. I couldn't say it hurt, but it wasn't enough to get me off my the side curled up. Then it hit me again, and again until I saw flashes run across my eyes. I managed to sit up and move to look around.
A third flash, then the forth.
Bits of my hearing came back slowly with every shock. There was complete silence on the outside. People holding their breath and the sound of the flat line keeping its constant and unfaltering tone.
The continuous sound made my ears ring and I held, them trying to stay calm
Something hard was pressed on my chest and the word "CLEAR" was shouted in the air. I shut my eyes tight as I waited for the lifesaving current to flow through my bones. It did more than go through the bone though, I felt it start my heart. Like an arrow piercing the tissue and the the contractions going into motion. My heart beat was back, but ever so soft.
