I rubbed the bridge of my nose carefully. Bet cha that was gonna leave a bruise. I climb out through the window and land safely in Dalton's arms. I guess I didn't realize how muscular he is. Good to know. He set me down carefully as I he were holding a baby or even $300 purse.
"I think you look even more beautiful in your pjs." Dalton said clearly examining me while biting his lip.
"So your saying the grinch looks attractive?" I ask swinging our hands.
He laughs quietly. "Yes ma'am."
"Don't call me ma'am. It makes me feel old."
"Yes miss." He said grinning.
I shook my head as we kept on walking. It was somewhat still light out but soon it would be pitch black and the only thing I had for safety was Dalton. Great.
"So what happens after summer? You expect me to become your boyfriend for the summer then jut let you go?"
"No,"
"Then what? What do we do Dakota?"
I looked up from the ground and forward at the sun setting.
"We elope." I say finally.
"Okay. I'm gonna buy you a real nice ring. Like all my allowance is for your ring."
I laughed. "Your such a kid."
Dalton was about to lean in and press his lips to my ear when we heard rustling noises in the bushes.
"What was that?" I asked cowering behind Dalton.
Dalton spreads his arm out like a shield to protect me when we hear more noises.
"Who's there?" Dalton asked trying to hide the shakiness in his voice.
Then a loud crack of thunder appeared and a possessed looking creature stood before us. It was black all around and had several tears of skin where it revealed red splotches. There was no pupil to the monster only bright red. It let out a low growl as it stood on its rear feet and approached us steadily.
"What the hell is this thing Dakota?" Dalton asked backing away slowly.
"I have no idea." I reply.
My eyes are stuck to the large creature that doesn't seem to cower. I try to think back at my lessons and all the monsters I was taught. Demon? No.
"I know what it is!" I yell.
"What is it?!" Dalton yells keeping his eyes on the beast.
"It's called a Barghest. They can shape shift and usually stay close to roads, gates, or water. These bad boys are deadly."
Dalton nods. "How do we get rid of it?"
I turned and just to our luck there was a river.
"Dalton we're gonna have to run."
"Are you insane?!"
"Look, do you want to be eaten by this thing? If so, go ahead and stay."
The hound inched closer, growling as he did.
"Fine. What do we have to do?"
I eyes the hound. "We have to cross that river."
☹☹☹
Hey guys!👋
So I decided I'm gonna do a little note every so often at the end!
Sorry for a short chapter I wanted this part to be the cliff hanger so yeah. But the next chapter will be longer. I promise!
Anyways I also wanted to let you know that I may put more creatures in my book and they will be like actual creatures sort of. Like these aren't made up names they are for real. So yeah you should look up the Barghest and see more about it!
See you guys later!☺️
Make sure to comment what you think! I love feedback!
