"Ah c'mon mom what's the worst Dalton can do? It's just gonna be for the summer!" I yell to my mother as she walks away from me.

She suddenly turns to me making me blink in surprise.

"You kissed him didn't you?" She asked.

I bit my lip. How'd she know? "So what if I did." I swear this woman is a mind reader.

"Oh Dakota! How exciting!" She says cheerfully.

"Yes. It's great. Now can he come?" I ask leaning to the right to see her.

She sighed. "I guess so. But he's gotta put forth effort or we leave him! Okay?"

I smile. "Okay!"

Dalton offered to drive me home which I happily said yes to.

"So I can come? How awesome!" He said drumming his fingers in the steering wheel.

I smiled at him. "Yeah, just make sure to help out whenever you can. Okay?"

He presses his cold lips on my hot cheeks. "Okay."

We arrived home soon after. Dalton waved goodbye and started to head home to pack for his big trip. I walked upstairs into my room and plopped myself down on my bed. For several minutes I sat there and just stared at the ceiling.

"Kota?" Dad said as my door creaked open.

"Yeah dad?" I sat up pushing my hair behind my ear.

He sat down next to me and rubbed my back.

"You sure you want Dalton to come along? It's a big risk ya know."

"I'm sure dad. I trust him." I said letting my feet dangle.

"Alright kiddo." He said patting my back and shutting the door on his way out.

"I have to what?" Dalton asked with a scrunched nose.

I giggled. "You have to clean up this guys business." I said motioning to the three headed lion.

"What! No way!" He said backing up.

I couldn't help but laugh. Which only got me dirty looks.

"C'mon it'll be okay. I'll come back in 20 minutes to check on you."

"Huh? Where are you going?"

"My dad's making me work with one of the new creatures today. Don't worry you'll be fine!"

"Whatever you say!"

I turned away laughing. Dalton has a dog, this couldn't be thy much different. Except, you know, it weighs like 20 pounds.

"I was wondering where the prettiest girl in the world was! Looks like I found her!" A voice yelled.

I looked up from the ground to see Oliver Kentle. He was two years older than me but one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Actually, he's a little too nice for my liking.

"Yeah. Heh. I gotta go work with some of the new creatures."

Oliver hopped down. "I'll help you!" He said looping his arm with mine.

I gulped as I saw Dalton's eyes glaring at Oliver. I wonder how this was gonna end.
