At about 2 in the afternoon, everything was set up, and people began coming in. I mostly stayed in the trailer at first, not wanting to see that dickhead, Alex. Whatever, I thought, at least everyone else has been nice so far. A few people said hi to me, and tried to engage me in their conversations. It was very nice, and a couple people even gave me hugs. My family never hugged me, and so at first I wasn't sure how to respond. Quickly, though, I realized how much I liked friendly human contact. Nick and I used to cuddle sometimes, but we didn't date for that long. I missed having that one person to just be with, but he was a dick. My first boyfriend, actually. It was a bad experience, I'd decided. Maybe I am disgusting. It felt like a sucker punch to the gut, so I ignored the feeling.

After two hours of just reading some of the books that Daniel had said I could look through, I got really bored. Who knew someone could get bored at a circus? So, I wandered out into the main area with all of the tents, to find a ton of people. They were all running around, playing games and watching the acts. I smiled, thinking about how fucking cool all of this was. Curiously, I found myself walking towards the biggest tent, which was filled with people. On the inside, there were stands that seated a ton of people, which were lower to the ground, and they wrapped all the way around the inside of the circular tent. It was darker on the inside, with lights all pointed towards the center. About 20 feet in the air, there was a rope, and I found myself surprised to see Belle walking very carefully across it. She was dressed in a ballerina outfit, and looked so pretty. Her long brown hair was wrapped up in one of those tight buns, sitting on the top of her head. Loud, exciting music was being played, and long ropes went from the floor to the ceiling, some tight and unwavering, and some short and loose. In some places, there were two ropes from the ceiling tied to a metal handle bar. Huge poles rose from the ground, holding up square platforms. I assumed those were for the trapeze artists. All beneath, there were girls and guys in spandex, doing cartwheels and stuff. It was almost like a choreographed dance, and they all looked so flexible. The lighting was really low where I had been standing, but, in the center, it was bright and colorful, and all of their costumes sparkled in pinks and blues and purples. It reminded me of the school plays, where all the actors had to wear heavy makeup so the audience would be able to see their facial features. This was the beginning of the show, and I just stood in the entrance, pulling the curtain shut behind me so that light wouldn't get through. As soon as I did, my attention zeroed in on the ropes. A few people in sparkling outfits swung out on those bars, their bodies flexibly twisting and bending. There were two girls, and one person who looked like a guy. From here, it was a little hard to tell. But I couldn't take my eyes off of him; the way his body moved was amazing. He swung from one rope to another, fearlessly flipping in midair. At one point, he grabbed one of the other girls' hands and tossed her body through the air. My heart leapt into my throat, but she landed perfectly on her feet onto one of the platforms, doing a little bow. The crowd absolutely roared. My eyes kept following him, though, as his body swung from platform to platform faster. He looked so...so brave. There was no hesitation in any of his moves, and it looked like he was having fun, too. Wait a second. Is that...? An uncolored flash of light hit him, so I got a clearer view for a moment. That caramel blonde hair... It looked just like Alex's. I tried to focus my eyes on him; sure enough, their builds and hair styles looked exactly the same. My cheeks burned for finding that bastard so attractive. For a moment, I forgot about the fact that he pushed me into a pit of mud for no reason. That fucking douche just looked so great, like he was flying. I quickly walked out of the tent and went over to a game booth, where one of the other people I'd met was working. His name was Jerome, and he only worked in the games.

"Hey Jerome. Need a hand?" I asked, trying to pretend that I hadn't been totally captivated by the world's biggest jerk.

"Sure, dude." He said, handing me a bunch of rings. It was the one where you try and toss a ring onto a bottle, and if you get three, you win a prize. For a few more hours, I just made random conversation with Jerome and helped take money and hand out rings and prizes. The thing was, everyone here was so excited and happy. It just gave me such good vibes. Good vibes were like a source of energy that I thrived on, and it had me feeling great. After a while, Jerome wandered off so he could make out with his girlfriend behind one of the trailers, assuming that I'd handle everything. And I did! I actually handled everything. It was going good, until the last person I wanted to see ever turned up. This time, though, he was wearing normal clothing. The booth was pretty big, and had some barstools on each side, so Alex plopped himself down in one of those. I pretended not to see him, but apparently that just provoked him more, because he tossed a ring at my face. Ignoring him, I continued to pass out prizes to customers, but he just kept throwing them. Every time I was done dealing with someone, he would toss one at the back of my head. After about 6, I whipped around and caught the next in midair. His lips pulled up into a surprised smile.
