The night was pretty good as Juliet only woke up a few times but she went back to sleep pretty quickly. I was in a pretty light sleep but I was properly woken up by a familiar noise. Rubbing my eyes, I sat up in my bed and turned to face the small crib next to me. I placed my hands into the crib and gently pulled her up and into my arms. I kissed her little forehead and kept stroking her cheek so she would calm down. I turned to see the clock. 6:42am. Even though Jug told me to let him know when we're awake, I didn't want to right away as I know he needed some sleep.
About 30 minutes had passed before a nurse came through the door with a surprisingly warm smile across her face. "Good morning Miss Cooper, how are you feeling?" "Pretty good, she only woke up a few times in the night." "That's great. I've come to get Juliet so I can run a couple more tests and to complete her birth certificate." The nurse walked over to the bed and took Juliet from my arms. I kissed her head again and lowered myself in my bed. "We'll be back in around an hour so get some rest." I smiled at the nurse and then took my phone off the shelf next to my bed. I text Jug.
Betty: morning Jug, we're both awake and the nurse has just taken Juliet for some more tests. See you soon? xx
Jughead: morning princess, I'll be down in 10 minutes xx
I smiled down at my phone. It was so cold in my room and I wanted to grab another blanket and one for Juliet. I removed the quilt from my lap and very slowly, turned my legs off the bed. It was slightly painful so I carried on. I slowly lowered myself off the bed and once I was stood up, took tiny steps over to the bag jug bought me yesterday. I pulled a sweatshirt and pyjama pants from my bag, a blanket for me and one for the baby. As I was zipping the bag back up, I felt a warmth around my waist, someone's hands. I turned round to see Jughead and he cupped my face. He pulled me into a tight kiss before pulling away. "Why are you getting up? You had a baby yesterday." He pushed a piece of hair behind my ear. "I know but I just wanted to get a blanket, I feel okay" He smiled at me again and helped me back into bed.
We were sat on the bed together, talking about random things when there was a light knock on the door. My nurse poked her head through round the door, "Is it alright to come in?" "Yeah of course." She came in with Juliet and handed her to me. They had obviously had to take her blankets off her for the tests and she just had a little sleeper on. Jughead lay the fresh, fluffy blanket into the little crib and I lay her down in it. I swaddled her gently in the blankets then held her close to my chest. "Good morning Mr Jones, how was your night?" "It was okay, just wanted to get back here to see my girls." He leant over to kiss my forehead. The nurse smiled and put the clipboard back down. "All the tests went great so you can take her home when ever your ready. Just sign out at reception when your ready and I wish you a life of happiness." "Thank you for everything nurse." She smiled and walked out of our room.
