Leah's POV

Jennifer wakes me up with her hand on my thigh and a kiss on my cheek. I open my eyes slowly and look around, trying to figure out where we are.

"Wakey, wakey." Jennifer teases, smirking at me from the drivers seat. "Are we at your parents house?" I ask, recognizing my surroundings now. "We are... you slept most of the way back, and I didn't want to wake you." She tells me, now unbuckling her seatbelt. "Why are we here?" I ask, feeling nervous. "Well... I figured now is a good of time as any to make the official introduction to my father, even though he already knows about us." Jennifer says. I take a breath and lay my head against the seat, "Jennifer, I look like shit. Why are we doing this?" "I cannot get engaged to a girl without letting my dad meet her, Leah. Much less get engaged to one of his former students without giving a little heads up..." she points out. I roll my eyes and sigh, unbuckling myself now.

Jennifer and I get out of her car and walk inside where we are greeted by her mother. She welcomes me with a hug and a soft kiss on my cheek, "good to see you, Leah." "You too!" I smile and casually reach for Jennifer's hand. I lace our fingers together and she smiles, "where's dad?" She asks her mother. "In his study. Do you want me to get him?" Her mom asks. "Uh, no... I think we'll go down." Jennifer says, leading me towards a staircase. I follow Jennifer down the stairs and a short hallway and she stops at the door. "It's fine." She insists, pecking my lips before knocking softly.

"Come in." A man's voice says from the other side of the door. Jennifer pushes the door open and I step inside with her, smiling softly. "Jennifer, I didn't know you were coming by." Her dad says, standing up and walking around his desk to hug her. "It was a last minute decision. I wanted to let you meet someone." Jennifer says, turning the attention to me. I swallow hard and her father, and my former professor, looks at me with a strange look. "Leah, nice to finally be introduced under these circumstances." He says, extending his hand. "You too, sir." I mutter, voice shaking as I shake his hand. I feel so awkward being here.

"I can't say I was pleased to hear of this relationship, Jennifer." Her father says, folding his arms over his chest and giving her a look of disapproval. "I know. I've gotten the third degree from mom, so you can save your breath." Jennifer sighs, "and I'm sorry I didn't tell you what was going on sooner. It was a mess." She shrugs. My body is trembling. I feel so awkward and out of place being here with my old professor. I wasn't used to seeing him in a personal setting like this.

"And Miss Leah, do you have anything to say?" He questions me. I swallowed hard. Um, I'm sorry for screwing your daughter?

"I apologize as well. The situation got messy, and it wasn't the ideal one to be in for sure." I explain. He nods and looks back to his daughter, "I appreciate you telling me now, though it is late." He confesses.

Jennifer cracked a small smile, and I did too.

"Leah and I are going to have some people over next weekend for dinner, and we'd love to see you guys there." Jennifer announces. We are? "Of course. Just let us know the time and place, Jennifer." Her father smiles. He wasn't as scary when he spoke to her as he was in class.

"I hate to rush the two of you off, but I have some work to get done." He smiles. I nodded and held Jennifer's hand tightly. "Okay, well have fun. We'll see you next weekend."

I smile kindly and follow Jennifer out the door.

My body releases its tension and Jennifer laughs, but I don't think it's funny. "Why didn't you tell him?" I hiss. "Leah, I can't right now. We are going to tell everyone next weekend, okay?" She promises, pushing her lips against my fingers. I nod and follow her upstairs.
