Izzabella

To say it was a wonderful trip to the hospital would be a complete and utter lie. Also to say I had a headache would be a lie, it was a full fledged migraine and to make matters worse I was running late for my appointment because Alex insisted we stop for ice slushies.

"How is it my fault you're a slow driver?" Alex argued back.

''Slow driver?" I gasped. ''Just because I don't go insanely over the speed limit like you, does not make me a slow driver."

He folded his arms across his chest. ''I get to where I need to be on time." He grumbled.

I laughed, but it was more of a 'are you joking' laugh. ''No. You don't, the only time I can remember you being on time is when you drove me."

''That's different."

I sighed, deciding to give up.

Originally I had planned to go into the hospital all by myself and left the two waiting in the hot car, so they could suffer, but they seemed to have a much different outlook on how this was going to happen because they got out of the car with me.

Alex took my side as Josh galloped up the pathway almost knocking down an agitated looking man in the process.

''I hate hospitals?" I glowered. Alex nudged my side a bit so a couple coming with a new baby could pass. "It's just that so many awful things happen inside them."

''It's not all bad."

I shook my head. On more than one occasion, I had terrible experiences in the facility. Ranging from a broken arm to my grand parents death. Not once did those doctors ever give me good news.

''You know what? I think I'm just gonna forget this appointment."

Alex laughed but stopped me from retreating back to the car. ''Why are you so afraid?" He asked gently.

I just shrugged because to explain to him why I was afraid, I would have to start from the beginning and the beginning is a heck of a long story to tell.

"Whatever. Lets go." I attempted to turn around once more, but Alex snaked his arms around my waist, picked me up and through me over his shoulder. My face was pressed up against his back and I let out a muffled scream.

"Alex put me down!"

His body shook with laughter. "No way Iz."

I could feel him break into a light jog and before I knew it the smell of anti-septic and death roamed around us. The light was harsh and very unnatural, so I found myself blinking profusely as Alex set me down.

Chairs were scattered around the lobby and few people sat, reading the magazines, watching the television or wringing their hands together nervously.

Alex guided me up towards the familiar front desk and I sighed as a overly peppy girl around my age turned around in a chair behind the desk. Her brown locks were insanely curly and her matching brown eyes stared right at Alex.

"Shes here for an appointment." Alex spoke from beside me.

The curly haired woman turned towards me, her lips now pulled into a frown. "Name?" She sounded irritated so I tried to be as polite as possible.

"His names Alex Klonday.'' The girl stared at me and squinted her eyes into tiny slits. I could feel Alex's stare bore into the side of my skull. I felt like telling everyone to just leave me alone, but I wasn't the type of girl to speak my mind.

"Iz, she means your name." I glanced towards Alex and heat rose up my neck and onto my cheeks. I'm pretty sure I ended up looking like a boiled lobster.
