A name, although I don't know who's. I can hear the sound of a distant beat.

I can feel it ever so slightly

I'm floating, I'm weightless. Lighter than air......Floating.

My name is Beatrice,

I live in as an Abnegation.

I am dead

I died in an act of bravery.

I am brave.

I feel warmth bathing my face and open my eyes. Everything is a mix of white, gold and blue. As I look around I notice that I'm not alone, I turn around and stand face to face with a woman.

She looks so familiar but my mind remains empty. She walks towards me with her arms out-stretched. She opens her mouth to say something.

"Beatrice."

I stare in shock because that's my name,

"Who are you?" I ask

"You know who I am," says the woman as she lays her hand on my shoulder

"Mom?!"i cry

"Now go back, they'll be waiting for you."

Before I can say anything else, I'm falling; my mom gets farther and farther away.

No, mom I think don't leave me again

Tears are filling my eyes. Everything gets darker until I am engulfed in the darkness and I can't see my hands in front of my face. It feels like I am falling forever, for eternity.

I slam into something, a net, pain prickling through my body. I want to scream but all the air has been knocked out of me.

I roll over on my side, open my eyes, not realising I closed them, taking in my surroundings. I don't know where I am but one thing is clear to me, that this is how I first meet him, this is where I first meet The person attached to the name

More tears fill my eyes and slip down my cheeks. Then I'm aware of the beat, stronger, harder and louder in my chest.

Thump-thump

I'm still thinking of my mother. how I loved her. how I hate to see her go.

No I'm not letting this happen, first you die right in front of me, and now again you're gonna leave me I think as I remember what happened.

We were running from what or who I don't know. I see soldiers come out from around the corners, we are surrounded.

"Go to your father and brother. The alley on the right down to the basement. knock twice, then three times, then six times." She says, "i'm going to distract them. you have to run as fast as you can."

"No," I say," I'm not going anywhere without you."

She smiles at me. "be brave, Beatrice. I love you."

She kisses my forehead and runs into the middle of the the street. She raises her gun towards the sky and fires three times into the air. the shoulders start running.

I run across to street to the alley. I look over my shoulder when I hear the guards fire back. I stop. My mother stiffens, blood pouring from her wounds. She falls to her knees, then slumped on to the pavement, lifeless.

I'm back in reality, or what I think it is.

"Please, Mom, please don't leave me again!" I cry out loud
