Ryuto looked at you expectantly with his golden orbs while you figured out how to read the treasure map.
"Alright, it says on the map that we should head left first till we immediately come to a fork in the way, turn right and, at the next two junctions, first go straight on and then right again." You said inspecting the piece of parchment in your hands with a sceptical look. Treasure hunting already seemed harder than you thought. Ryuto and you quickly made your way to the entrance of the cave you were going to look through. When the blader said he would take you with him to one of his treasure hunts, you were excited and couldn't wait for it, but now you were unsure if it was a good idea. Ryuto saw the concerned look on your face and smirked.
"Tch it's going to be fun!"
"Yeah yeah you're right. " As you began following the path inside the tunnel, you noticed it continuously getting darker. Ryuto pulled out a flashlight from his pocket which skimpily lit the path. You were about to pass through some ruins inside a large part in the cave but then Ryuto stopped for the first time in hours.
"We should take a little break, we are almost there." You nodded in agreement and stretched out against the nearest wall.
"Here." Ryuto picked up two rocks from the floor and handed them over to you. You gave him a confused glance. "Let's make a fire."
You took the rocks from him rather uncertain and tried the most simplest way you knew to start a fire while Ryuto placed some sticks from his bag in front of you. You skid one rock over the other, having absolutely no idea what you were doing. One small tiny spark flew into the pile of sticks. The spark spread with somesheds but it wasn't enough. You were in awe when this happened, amazed a person like you could even do such a thing.
So you tried again. Nothing. And once more. Nothing. At this point you became a little frustrated. You tried one more time and again only a tiny spark. Ryuto chuckled and earned an angry glare from you.
"What? Not everyone is a professional treasure hunter like you!"
"Sorry, you just look so cute when you are angry. Try again, but this time skid them together with more force." You focused your eyes back on the rocks in your hands with the slightest tint of pink on your cheeks. After another try more sparks started flying and a small fire started crackling.
"Good job!" Ryuto gave you a thumb up and blew the flames gently to make them rise more. Your lips curled into a smile as you took a breath, proud of what you did. You could tell it was already nighttime as it got much colder. Inside the cave, the temperature had dropped even further. You shivered and unconsciously got closer to Ryuto. The blader on the other hand seemed to notice and put his arm around you.
"Let's warm you up," he suggested, his voice dropping to a husky baritone. Instantly a shiver went down your spine. Your eyes met, but you quickly got distracted by what you thought was a very faint shaking sound.
"Ryuto..do you hear that?", you finally asked. Ryuto nodded in agreement.
"What is it?"
"I'm not sure, but we should probably head back." There was a look of concern in Ryuto's eyes you didn't like. It worried you. Both of you quickly got up and made your way back to where you came from. As the rumbling sounds became increasingly louder over time, you picked up your pace. Suddenly the ground began to shake and little rocks fell of the cave walls.
"What the heck?!" Panic became evident in your voice as you stood frozen, unsure of what to do. Once a huge boulder crashed between you two, you snapped out of it and dodged some following big rocks. You looked out for Ryuto, but couldn't spot him. You dashed around the area and called out for him while trying not to get hit by rocks raining from the ceiling. With your heart beating faster than it ever had, you finally caught a glimpse of his white-red hair.
"Ryuto! Over here!" Said teen turned to you, his eyes growing wide. He started to sprint.
Not noticing another boulder that was about to fall on top of you, you waited for him to come over. He grabbed your arm and pulled you so hard that he was worried that he might have dislocated your shoulder with that. The boulder came crashing down behind you and you both ran as fast as you could towards an opening.
"I can see the exit!" Ryuto screamed while still tugging you after him. Finally, under the open sky, you tried to catch your breath. Your knees were shaking from exhaustion and fear.
"You alright?" Ryuto asked, slightly dirtied by debris that was floating through the air.
"Yeah...I guess. I'm sorry we didn't find the treasure." You felt all over your body. You were alive and well. Or in heaven. But you liked to think you were alive. You sighed in relief your life didn't end just yet. The golden-eyed teen pulled you into a hug and started to whisper in your ear.
"It's ok. You are my treasure." You broke the embrace and looked at him with astonishment. Ryuto however placed his hand on your cheek and chuckled. You smiled softly, holding Ryuto's hand and taking it off your face as you leaned in to place a soft kiss on his lips. His hands trailed down your hips, holding you close and in return, your arms snaked around his neck, draped over his shoulders comfortably.
As Ryuto slowly backed away from your lips, his lidded eyes glared into your own, his affection causing your heart to heat up. His now damp lips parted, a murmur of fondness escaping.
"My treasure.."
