Chapter Two

Even at the age of six, she manage to figure out what her dad was doing when he would come home with a group of friends, go to his room and shut the doors for hours at a time.

Smoke coming out from the bottom opening of the door.

He would threaten to hit her if she was to come outside her room when he was home.

The slightest creek of the apartment stairs, the slightest noise outside her apartment's door and she would run to her room, scared he may strike her one day.

Did he hate her that much that the sight of her would make him angry?

There was one night she fell asleep while playing with her dolls on the couch.

She didn't hear her daddy walk in with his friends again.

She woke to someone touching her legs.

Playing with her hair.

Telling her how beautiful she was.

It was a man.

One of daddy's friends.

Why wasn't he in the room with her dad? Why was he in the living room touching her?

"If you be a good girl, I can make you feel good." He smiled at her.

He scares her.

She doesn't know what to do.

With a finger against his lip, indicating for her to hush. He stood up and began to wrestle with his belt.

She was scared.

But she wanted to be a good girl, like he said.

What if he hits her too?

Would daddy hate her even more for not being good to his friend?

He lifted up her dress, trying to move her panties aside.

She knew it was wrong.

Her neighbor, old Mrs. Stanley always told her:

Nobody got they business down there unless you tell 'em to. Your body is your temple.

And she ain't tell him to.

He grew frustrated as she struggled, he slapped her.

She cried loudly and hard.

Her dad came out the room, saw the man and rushed him.

Daddy was now on top of the man, hitting him.

She didn't want to see the rest.

She took her dolls and ran to the room.
