Days and nights went by and you were able to hide your secret from everyone without any suspicion. Loki didn't even mention your regular bathroom breaks, it was if he hadn't even noticed them. Stephany texted and emailed you a lot of helpful information which you were very thankful for, you were even able to visit her almost every day for 'therapy'. Everything seemed to be going smoothly, you knew that you would eventually have to tell but right now life was perfect. You wished to tell Loki as well and planned to do it in a few days, you would've done it sooner but every time you would get really nervous and give up. You thought that Loki would notice your odd behaviour but he didn't, he seemed to be acting different as well.
It had only been for the last couple of days but he seemed a little distant. When you would lay in his bed, he wouldn't hold you. During the time you spent together he wasn't as affectionate as he used to be, you were honestly scared of what was going on. In your eyes, your perfect life was falling apart, all that you hoped for was Loki returning to his normal loving self. That was all that you wanted and you were lucky, you got it for one night. One last night.
Laying in Loki's bed, you stared at his back as he tried to fall asleep. You loved the feeling of being in his arms but it didn't seem like he did, you hoped that the reason for his distance wasn't because he was having second thoughts on your relationship. With a sigh, you rolled over so you lay back to back, a large space in between your two bodies. You lay still and try to go to sleep but it didn't seem to be working, but you kept your eyes shut and stayed unmoving anyway. After approximately ten minutes of laying awake with closed eyes, you felt movement on the bed. Arms slid around your body, engulfing you in a warm hug. A smile spread across your face, enjoying the feeling of his body against yours. Even though it had only been a few days where he had started acting strange, it felt as if you hadn't been in his arms for a long time. You leaned into his touch, rolling over so that you could face him. But even so, you kept your eyes closed. He moved closer, planting a kiss on your lips before resting his forehead against your own and staying there.
"I love you, (Y/n)," he whispered. And that was the last thing you remembered before you fell asleep.
An alarm sounded, waking you from your slumber. You shot up, looking around to see what was the problem. It could've been a break-in, someone might be trying to infiltrate the building. There was something you hadn't noticed at first, but you were laying in your own bed. Your eyes widened as you got out of bed and ran to Loki's cell. Passing through the barrier, you frantically looked around. There was no sign of the raven-haired man. The cell was empty, the bed was made and books stacked up neatly. Your throat felt dry and your vision began to blur, finally understanding why Loki had been so different these last few days.
He had found a way out.
As the alarm sounded loudly in the background, you slowly returned to your cell. Falling back on your bed, you hugged your pillow, letting the siren and sound of the vault door drown out your cries. It was hard to hold back, the one that you loved had left without a word and you knew that he wasn't going to come back. Last night was the last time you were going to feel his arms around you and his lips on yours.
You stopped crying and lay with your face in your pillow, you didn't wish to see or speak to anyone. It was a shame that it wasn't your choice. When you felt a weight on the end of your bed, you finally became afraid. You weren't sure how this was all going to end, would they believe that you had nothing to do with this or blame you? Being the only one in the room with Loki, you were the only suspect and the only one who could willingly leave. You felt a hand shake your shoulder gently, causing your muscles to tense.
"(Y/n)," Tony's voice calls. Relaxing a little, you sit up and face him. Wiping your eyes, you refuse to meet his gaze.
"We're all meeting upstairs, you'll need to come as well." You were thankful that his voice was calm and that he was taking your feelings into consideration. But you still couldn't help but feel worried as you watched his eyes drift from you, over to the cell which lay empty next door. He didn't say anything other than that before turning around and beginning to walk away. You got up off your bed and hurried after him, having two guards follow and escort you to the elevator before two others took over and stood inside with you. Tony remained silent and refused to make eye contact. It worried you, what if they all thought it was your doing and threw you out? You push those thoughts away and took a deep breath, you'd just have to wait and see.
