"So how are you planning to spend Halloween?" Bryce asks, throwing down a blue seven.
Unluckily for him, I had two more cards left.

"Well, I usually go to a party with Jake...but maybe I'll just chill," I shrug.

Jake usually invites me to a Halloween party really early on, but I never got the invitation, which I guess, again, is my fault.

I wonder who he's going with today? Maybe Clara? I dunno, who cares.

"So you can't go without him?" Bryce looks at me questioningly.

I shake my head, "Well he's a co-CEO, so it's one of those big rich parties. You have to be invited to show up," I explain, putting down a red seven, "Uno,"

"Hmm...well I mean, we both work at the same company.." He shuffles through his deck.

"He basically owns the company," I roll my eyes, watching his movements.

"And I mean, I got an invitation from my brother," He puts down a red three.

"Huh? Who's your brother?" I question, throwing down my last card. Which was a wild card. He nods sadly at his defeat.

"Just an average worker there. The boss really likes him, so he got invited as his boss' plus one. He was allowed to pick a guest who could bring a plus one, and he picked me," Bryce explains, shuffling through the deck.

We start a new game, and I sip my tea. We were in my living room, sitting on the floor around the coffee table. I wore an oversized hoodie and shorts, while Bryce was in his pants with his shirt off.
He passes out the cards again, making the first move and sipping his tea, "So we can go if ya want,"

I think quietly. I mean, I would like to go rather than laying around on Halloween, plus I think there's another chance of making up with Jake there.
"But what would I wear?" I ask, making the next move.

He shrugs, "Who cares? We could go shopping if you're nervous about it,"

"Hmmmm...yeah I guess.." I shrug, taking a sip of my tea while eyeing my deck. I decide on a card to play and throw it down.

I gotta be honest, Bryce is great company, really. He's really funny and a nice guy. But his niceness is kind of draining. I mean, I'm not a nice and exciting person, so seeing one first hand is...exhausting?
I wouldn't describe Jake as the same kind of person. Jake is like that at work, yes, but outside of work he's just considerate. When he's drunk, though, he's kind of rude. It's funny though.

"Hm? You just got like- super gloomy," Bryce explains looking at me confused.

"Eh. I'm good I'm good- fuck you," I say, completely serious as he drops a draw four.
He chuckles, taking a sip of his tea as I shuffle through my cards.

"Anyway," He starts, "Once this game is over, we can go shopping and head to the party,"

I nod. I'll probably go and just enjoy the food and music. I'll try to ignore Jake, but if I see him I'll try my best to apologize.

Out of everything, I just hope I don't make the situation with us worse. I don't think it can get worse, though.

Sorry for the short chapter, i didn't know what to do with poppy
