Deejah's POV

"Good morning, dad." I greeted.

"Good morning. How is my princess doing?" He asked, enthusiastically

"I'm doing good, just missing mum a little, but she will be back tomorrow, by God's will." She smiled.

"Yeah, she will. I really miss her so much too." He voiced. "So come, let's take our breakfast. By tomorrow, she will be joining us here too, so stop worrying, my dear."

"Yes, dad. I want to even discuss something with you. Maybe after breakfast we can discuss it." She suggested.

"Okay. Whatever it is, let's just eat first, my princess and tell me whatever is bothering you."

"Yes, dad."

So we both ate our breakfast silently. I had never felt so nervous trying to talk to my dad before, but today I felt suffocated. I didn't even know how to start the conversation about that guy in prison and I had to, otherwise he might remain in prison for a very long time.

"Deejah, what are you really thinking about that you couldn't hear me calling you? Are you sure you're really okay?" He enquired, worriedly. "You did not even eat much."

"I'm sorry, dad. I was just thinking of the guy in prison. Isn't it about time we bail him out of cell? I can't do that without your permission."

"Is that what's bothering my princess, that she couldn't even eat? While your permission has been granted, you can anything that will make you happy, okay?"

"Yes, dad, I will. Thank you." She replied, happily.

"Anything for my princess, and don't worry anymore, okay? I will be taking my leave now. Make sure you take your breakfast."

"Okay, dad."

"Wow!" I exclaimed. I never really thought it would be so easy talking to dad about the issue. I should have done that earlier, but nevertheless, I promised to rectify my action.

"Reedah, go to my room and bring my phone, let me give Mina a call, so that she should get ready by 2pm, because she can waste someone's time."

Minutes later, she returned with the phone. "Here is your phone, ma'am." She stretched out her hand and handed it over to me.

I dialed Mina's number and she picked up immediately. From the tone of her voice, I could tell my call was what woke her up.

"Mina, don't tell me you're still on bed, when you I have already had breakfast. You better be ready by 2pm, please."

"Okay, bye."

"I will pick you up by then." I said and ended the call, before she could respond.

"I will be going to my room. I hope it's already clean." I raised a brow questionably at Reedah.

"Yes, ma'am, it's already clean." She replied.

I stood up and went inside only to find myself dozing off.

I awakened when I heard the loud ringtone of my phone. It jolted me out of my sleep and I stretched my hand and took the phone, only to discover it was sheriff calling me. Unfortunately, the call ended before I could pick up.

I called back immediately, because knowing the type of person he was, I knew he would get angry and would not allow me give explanations.

"Sweetheart, I'm sorry I missed your called." I apologized immediately he picked up. "Sheriff, I can't just ignore your call, without any reasons."

As expected, he didn't give me a listening ear and cut the call on me. I couldn't really pinpoint what was wrong with him. Just a little mistakes and he got pissed off. "Mtchww" I hissed and sauntered to the bathroom to take a quick shower.

Emerging from the bathroom, I went to the dresser and changed into a jilbab. I pocked up my phone and bag, then ran down the stairs. I had to release that girl today, since her brother would also be released.

"Hey you!" I boomed.

"Ma'am." she responded, lowering her gaze.

"You have been released and your brother will be released at any moment today. You can now go back to where you came from." I informed

She nodded with teary eyes. "Thank you, ma'am."

I ignored her and walked out of the house. I got into my car and headed to Mina's house. It took almost twenty minutes for me to get there.

After several honks, the security man opened the gate and let me in. I drove inside and pulled over in the parking space.

On my way going in, I saw Aunty Maryam - Mina's mom, with aunty Lubabatu. It looked like they were heading out. I greeted them and asked of Mina. I was told she was in her room, so I headed there.

On getting to her room, I discovered she was in bathroom. I was disappointed at her, for I had specifically told her to hurry up. "Mina, you better do quick and come out of that place! What really stopped you from bathing since in the morning? argh!"

I sat down and unlocked my phone. I decided to go through my WhatsApp messages, before she would emerge. There were many messages, but the one that caught my attention, was Sheriff's. I viewed it and started strolling through the messages. It baffled me to see Sheriff getting far with little issues.

My soul: Babe

My soul: You have been ignoring me for the past two days.

My soul: Did I in any way offend you or is that your way of ending our relationship? Tell me so as to get my feelings checked out.

I was speechless and confused on what action to take next. The idea of breaking our relationship never crossed my mind, because I didn't want to lose him. I didn't know why Sheriff was overreacting - why he could not trust me anymore. Thinking of his terrible attitude only served to irk me further.

"Babe, what's wrong and why starring at your phone so intently? You didn't even know when I dressed up and did my make-up. What's wrong?" Mina enquired.

"You won't understand Mina. Just hurry up and let's go."

"Then make me understand, because I can't just ignore you and make you go through whatever it is alone."

"Wallahi, it's Sheriff. He thinks I want to end our relationship, just because I wasn't able to pick his call when he called. He thinks I'm ignoring him or whatsoever." I huffed.

"Wait... did you just say whatsoever? This is Sheriff we are talking about fa. Not just any random guy, but your Sheriff. " Mina pointed out.

"So?" She asked, nonchalantly.

"Babe, I think you should cool down and then we will talk about it. Is your feelings for him already fading out?" She asked, seriously.

"Mina, I don't know what you're getting at, but please we are almost late. Let's get going." I heaved a sigh and stood up to leave.

She took her bag too and we both left the house.

Getting into the prison yard, we alighted the car and headed inside.

After the whole formalities of bailing had been done, I was given a paper to sign, after a statement had been made.

They brought him out and gave him his clothes and shoes. Our eyes met and after almost immediately, he averted his gaze down, making me feel even more embarrassed than I already was.
