It was a cold night when fate brought the two together.
The shadows behind the lamp post seem to swell, the inky darkness expanding and forming the silhouette of a young woman. Her silver and gold eyes were striking, glowing dimly under the minuscule light of the street lamp. She was dressed all in black, the simple fishnet pattern of her black tights the only contrast to the darkness of her jean shorts and tight, plain black tanktop. The cool, silver metal of an unpolished dagger shone from its place attached to her outer thigh. Lightly tanned skin stood out against the darkness of her clothing, the slight bit of Mexican in her heritage shining through, and her dark blonde hair was pulled up into a greasy ponytail. Deep bags hanging heavy under her eyes and the weary slouch show how absolutely exhausted she is.
She goes unnoticed for a moment by the chocolate haired man under the street lamp she appeared near, until that moment ends and he can smell her blood due to its unique potency. A small pine tree green scarf was tied around his neck, with a form fitting suit of the same color adorning his body. His blue eyes shined under the yellow light as they surveyed the area with a careful gaze. Within that same moment, her silver and gold eyes clashed with the startling blue of his irises, immediately alert.
"Who are you?" The question was asked in sync, neither person hardly letting their surprise show.
The girl shuffled her feet into a better position in case she needed to attack. Oh, how she hated her lack of hesitancy at the practiced movement. The man noticed that the shadows around the girl seemed to bend towards her, small vines of darkness inching their way up her legs, so he let his fangs protrude from his top gums. This girl wasn't human. She couldn't be. Perhaps, not entirely, at the very least. Her scent is human, but it's also.... tainted with something. Something magical.
The woman, ever cautious, gripped her dagger with a practiced ease, ready to defend at a moments notice. She didn't wish to hurt anyone, but she would if the situation called for it. She's survived this long, she isn't going to let herself just die at the hands of a vampire. Not when she's free, now.
"W-who's ask- asking?" She replies with a question of her own, stumbling over her words, deciding not to answer.
"No one important." Is the reply she receives as the man feigns nonchalance.
The stilted conversation is very quick to end as a deep, gut wrenching growl erupts from the woods by the highway. Anticipation and fear course through the human girls veins at the sudden sound. It happened in an instant, as these things usually do. A beat of silence passes before the girl was letting out an aborted yell of pain, quick to shut it down, sharp teeth digging into her leg with an iron grip. Blood gushes from the wound, staining her fishnets and dripping down into her boots. It quickly begins to drag her back towards the woods, biting down harder for good measure. Shoving through the pain filled haze settling over her mind, she lashes out with her dagger, the entirety of the blade embedding itself into the eye of the creme colored beast. Silver metal sinks into brain matter as she uses more force. Its mouth slackens with death, blue eyes dulling as the soul leaves its fur covered body.
A werewolf. They always travel in groups... Shit, that meant there were more. The thought passes through the girls mind with ease, as adrenaline pulses under her skin.
In that same moment, the vampire was attacked as well. The beige wolf that had attacked him was dealt with as soon as it came towards him. He easily grabbed it by the top of it's open maw, reaching another hand out to grip it by the bottom of its jaw. A quick movement had the telltale crack of bone and gushing of blood and brain matter as he rips its head clean in two. The creature was easily felled. A despaired howl had sounded throughout the woods, many miles away but resounding nonetheless. It was no matter, the mate would die soon anyways. When one half goes, the other follows. Stalking forward towards the human, he contemplates many possibilities. He'd seen everything, wise eyes taking in the scene before him. Werewolves don't kidnap humans for food. It's illegal and most certainly not part of their animal-only diet. So what use would some human be for them?
