Emma's pov
While walking towards the canteen, i noticed many girls giving me the 'dirty look'. "Aye.... look everyone's looking at you. They must be jealous as you are with Joshua." Ashley said. I ignored them as they were being stupid. I mean, he's just the new kid who happens to look like a god. Whats the big deal? When we neared the canteen, Joshua starting walking really fast. He was practically running. As me and Ashley were way shorter than him, we had to run to catch up with him. "Hey! Can you spare a thought for us shorties," I shouted at him trying to get above the noise of the canteen. He gave us an embarrassed look and slowed down.
After we got our food, we made our way back to the table where me and Ashley usually sat. Suddenly, i tripped over someone and my bowl of noodles split onto the floor as i fell. "Hahaha... what a Loser." I heard a very familiar voice say. "Not again..." I looked up in annoyance and saw Cheryl. The girl who has always disliked me and used every chance she could to bully me. "Oops, i didn't see you there. Too bad you tripped." Seething in anger, i picked up my tray and stood up. Cheryl leaned towards me and said, "Back away cause Joshua's mine." I stared at her in disbelief. She tripped me on purpose just because she was jealous?! I ignored her and walked away. Joshua looked at me with a concern and asked if I was ok. My heart fluttered when i looked up at him and met his gaze. His eyes were so beautiful, and i could only nod. Then, Ashley nudged me. "Someone has a crush...." I shoved her back and my incident was all forgotten.
When we reached the table, i stared at their food hungrily. Joshua noticed me eyeing his chicken and he laughed. "Do you want a slice?" He offered and i was dazed. His laughter was so cute i was dying internally. However i was too hungry and i said ok taking a mouth of the chicken he bought. He offered to get me a soft drink since i wasted my money but i told him i preferred water and i didn't like soft drinks. "Mmmmm...so...good" i said. After a while, Ashley told me there's a new horror movie coming out. "Before you can say anything, yes lets go watch it." "You know some people say this new movie is scarier than the ring," Ashley said. "No way. Tell then to come and fight me."
Just then, i looked at Joshua who had gone quiet and i found him looking at me weirdly.
Joshua's pov
No way... i thought. She couldn't be the one right? It must only be a coincidence that she likes horror movies and thinks the ring is the scariest movie ever. She also likes water and hates soft drinks but i didn't want to get my hopes too high. After all, i haven't seen her in 8 years since she moved away. She never told me where and just left. I have tried to find her many times but failed and my friends and family have told me to give up. But deep down, i was always hoping for the day that i find her. I'll find you one day, my little penguin.
