The next day I took Namjoon with me to my shift at the restaurant. My boss completely adored him and talked to him for my entire shift.
She said that I could take the summer off and would be able to start working for her again when I came back. I felt so grateful to her for allowing me to keep the job.
"Your boss must really like you since she let you take the entire summer off so easily," Namjoon said.
"I've been working for her since I was a junior," I said. "I started working for her when the restaurant was almost about to close. I suggested advertising on social media and it worked. The restaurant was able to get back on its feet. "
"Woah, you're amazing," He said. I could hear the exaggeration and laughed.
"How are things at work?" I asked as we walked back to the car.
"Eh, it's fine," He said. "I'm still working on the production team."
"Is that co-worker still giving you a hard time?"
"Not really," He said while opening the door of the car. "He stopped bothering me after he realized that I just didn't care."
"Is he still in a better position to get promoted?"
"Yeah, I mean he got in with connections so of course he'll get promoted before anyone else in the group that got hired around the same time as me," He said.
"That's just messed up," I said as I also got into the car.
"There's not much I can do about it," He said. "It's just how the company currently works."
"Have you ever thought of changing your profession to being a producer?" I asked. "You said that you wanted to try."
"It's a work in progress," He said. "I'm debating on whether to actually pursue it or not."
"If you really want to then you should," I said. "It's not too late to pursue what you really want."
"I'll have to find a place that will accept me as a producer," He said. "I don't have a name for myself yet. So I'll have to work harder."
"You have my support," I said.
"Thanks,"
Saturday came really quickly and before I knew it we were at the airport waving goodbye to Appa. According to Namjoon we would arrive in Korea that night.
We were going to fly non stop back to Korea, so the guys were going to pick us up and take us home. When we were boarding the plane my phone rang. It was Appa.
"Hello?"
"Miso, have fun okay?" I heard. "Have a good time in Korea."
"Oh, thanks Appa, bye, see you at the end of summer," I said. I slipped my phone into my pocket and walked behind Mom and Namjoon in the line to board the plane.
When the plane took off, Mom and Namjoon organized their space to sleep. I took out my phone and earbuds.
"Hey Miso, do you want to listen to music?" He asked.
"Sure," I said.
"I'll give you Jungkook's soundcloud," He said.
"Jungkook has a soundcloud?" I asked surprised. "And he didn't tell me?" Namjoon laughed.
"Don't tell him I showed it to you," He said as he typed in Jungkook's soundcloud. "He'll kill me if he knew." I laughed.
"Don't worry, I won't tell him," I said.
"Here you go," He said handing the phone back to me.
"Thanks," I said taking the phone and putting my earbuds in. He had quite a few songs listed on the profile. Most were covers of pop songs that I liked as well. There were a few songs that looked unfamiliar to me so I clicked on 'Euphoria'.
'너는 내 삶에 다시 뜬 햇빚...'
Jungkook's voice filled my ears as the music played. He had such a beautiful singing voice. How did I have no idea that he had such an amazing singing voice?
My phone buzzed and there was a kakaotalk from Jungkook.
- Have a safe flight! See you soon! :)
I smiled.
Yeah, I'll see you soon! -
