I hopped out of the car excitedly. Mum had taken us to my favorite place, the playground.

Of course, it was every other first graders place as well, so there was multiple other children with their parents already there.

"Addison c'mon!" I shouted to you excitedly, "We have to get to the swings!"

You giggled and ran behind me, following me to the slightly rusted set of swings.

We kicked our small legs to propel ourselves higher, and higher.

"Look Ash! I'm Flying!" You giggled happily, swinging high off the ground.

I giggled too and pumped harder, swinging as high as you were.

After the swings, you decided you wanted to go play on the slide so we split up, so I could go on the monkey bars. After a few minutes, I heard a thud and some crying.

I looked over and you were sitting on the ground crying, while some boy laughed at you.

I ran over there to comfort you.

"What happened?" I asked worriedly.

"It was my turn on the slide and he pushed me down!" You said sniffling.

The kid who pushed you was still laughing, so I went up to him and kicked him in the shin and started hitting him for making my best friend cry.

"Ashton!" My mum yelled running towards me and pulling me away, well as best she could while holding my little sister Lauren, "You stop that right now!"

She pulled me away from the kid while still carefully cradling my sister and took the both of us to the car.

"But mum! I don't want to leave!" I protested crossing my arms.

"Relax Ashton, were just gonna get lunch. If you're good maybe we can go back. But you just can't go around kicking and punching other kids," Mum scolded.

In the car, you were still sniffling.

"Addie don't cry," I said, "That boy was just a big dummy," I assured you before making a bunch of funny faces until you laughed again, your tears now gone.

"Thanks Ash." You said with a genuine smile.

After lunch, we went back to the park.

We started to walk to the climbing wall together when another girl our age ran up behind you and tapped you on the shoulder.

"You're the girl that was here earlier, and got pushed down by that boy right?" She questioned. You nodded confused.

"After you guys left I went over and punched him in the stomach for making you cry." She told us, smiling proudly.

"Thanks, I'm Addison!" You said with a wide smile.

"I'm Spencer!" The girl told us. She had bright blue eyes and straight blonde hair. I think I recognized her from our school.

"I'm Ashton," I told her, "Do you wanna climb with us?" I questioned.

She nodded with a smile and we ran off to play together.

That was that day Spencer became one of our best friends. And maybe that was also the day I decided to always take care of you when you were upset, and made sure no boy would ever hurt you again.
