The weekend after your parents death, I made you go to a group therapy. You didn't want to go but you knew how much it meant to me, and how much better you wanted to get.
You only agreed to go, however, if I went with you.
So, I pulled on some skinny jeans and a teeshirt before heading over your house to go.
Your aunt was taking us since I just had to tell her what happened. Now that your parents passed, she was your legal guardian and moved into the house with you.
"Addie! I'm here!" I shouted walking through the door.
You ran down the stairs, before jumping up and giving me a hug.
"Woah, hey there." I grinned stumbling back a bit.
"Thanks for going with me." You said pulling away with a small smile.
"Anything for my best friend." I assured.
When we got to the group, there was only a few other kids.
"Why don't we all go around in a circle and introduce ourselves." The guide cheerfully said. She seemed kinda annoying. "I'm Sarah." She said with a wide smile.
Everyone went around and said their names. I wasn't really paying attention to be honest.
Until one girl with strawberry blonde hair and bright blue eyes went.
"Hi I'm Raquel, and I'm here because I hate life and I tried to kill myself." She said with a sarcastic smile.
Sarah looked startled by the girls sudden outburst.
"Well, I only asked for your name..." Sarah started to say.
"Well I came to 'get help' not a fucking meet and greet," Raquel snapped.
Sarah started to fold and unfold her hands over and over anxiously, I could tell she had some OCD and she had a problem with things not going he way.
The next half hour Raquel kept cracking jokes which was good, because the aura of the room was kinda depressing.
After that meeting, I agreed you didn't have to go again, nor did you want to. I knew it wouldn't help you, I would.
The next day in school, we were in English class, first period of the day.
"Class, welcome our new student Raquel Miller. She's a 7th grader but will be joining this grade throughout high school, due to her advanced knowledge." Our teacher explained introducing our new class mate.
I immediately recognized her as the girl from your support group. We both looked at each other with a knowing look. After we looked away I couldn't help but smile. I loved how well we knew each other and how much we thought alike.
Later during the day in lunch, we went to our usual spot and met up with Spencer.
I noticed you staring across the cafeteria at something. I followed your gaze to see Raquel sitting alone.
You walked over to her alone and started talking to her. After a minute or two, you had returned to the table, Raquel trailing behind you.
"Hey guys, this is Raquel. I invited her to sit with us." You spoke. This was very like you, you're always so outgoing and friendly.
"You can call me Rocky." She said as she sat down. We all greeted her.
She actually was pretty nice and funny. As the year went on we became better and better friends. We also found out how Rocky was always bullied in school because she was so smart, and she even tried to hide the fact she was above average, but her parents would physically and verbally abuse her to get her to push herself more in school. Eventually she became depressed and tried to kill herself. Now she's better though, and she's in a foster home away from her parents.
I think we all saved each other that year. Rocky helped us with all our grades, and we apparently made her happier.
Even as our friend group grew we still stayed as close as we always were.
