It was late at night when a knock on her balcony door drew Sarah's attention away from the semi interesting movie she just was watching. Most people probably would be irritated by a visitor that late at night or by the fact how someone was able to knock on an outside door that belonged to a penthouse, but not Sarah. She was used to things like this happening.
Without a hurry she got up from the nest of blankets and pillows she had created on the couch and sauntered towards the door. On the other side of the glass stood none other than Tony Stark in jeans and shirt despite the cool temperatures, his arms crossed and an impatient expression on his face. But it quickly dropped and was replaced by a smile when she opened. All she was wearing was an oversized metal shirt, she once hat stolen from his collection and never given back. He didn't mind. It suited her better than it ever would him.
"Night Cupcake" He bend down to press a chaste kiss on her cheek bone, then he stepped in and she quickly closed the door again to lock out the crisp night air.
"What brings you here? Weren't you supposed to have a date?" "I did"
Sarah took a closer look and noticed some dark marks on his neck. Shaking her head, she sighed and motioned for him towards the couch. "So you once again left a woman alone in the sheets?" He just shrugged. "I never promised her anything"
She left it at this. They did have this conversation too many times and she wasn't in the mood to have it again. Instead they sat down and she pushed a bowl of popcorn onto his lap. He stuffed some in his mouth and furrowed his brows as he watched the screen. "What is this?" "Don't know, some romantic comedy. I was just zapping through the channels"
For some time, they watched in a comfortable silence the soon to be couple bickering, until Tony looked around the otherwise dark and silent apartment. "Where's Brandon?"
He was referring to her boyfriend of two years. "He's on a business trip but should return tonight. The main reason I am still up" "And the other reason" With a smirk he pushed his shoulder against hers and she rolled her eyes. "Because I had a feeling that you would show up here once you were done with tonight's pastime" Tony pouted. "Don't be so mean" "Then tell me anything you remember your date had told you tonight. Or even better, tell me her name"
Instead of answering, he snorted and with crossed arms leaned back into the couch. "Melanie or Melissa....it was something with an M. You know that I'm not searching for a relationship right now" "Yeah, I know" She padded his thigh, then grabbed a handful of popcorn. Still munching, she added. "But when you keep focussing on one-night-stands, you may miss a woman worth your attention one day" "I try pay attention to them" A brow raised in scepticism was enough answer to this. "I really do!" He sighed heavily and placed his chin on his palm, his elbow resting on the armrest of the couch. "But when they start talking, I soon see that they just aren't what I am searching for"
