Well, most of all, I need to apologise for the possible many mistakes in the text. I'm not an english-speaker so English is not my mother language and I'm still learning. I still hope it's readable enough. ^^

- Hi, Hank! You exclaimed when you saw the middle-age man coming to his office.

You were Lieutenant Anderson's assistant for two years. You moved to Detroit almost as long ago and when you got to the police station, you became Hank's partner. Fowler had put you with him God-knew-why. Hank and you were like night and day. He was this old alcoholic, grumpy, incapable of smiling or being nice, sad soul since the terrible incident which ruined his life man. Whereas you were the incarnation of the youth, in your early thirties, were like a ray of sunshine who smiled and spread your good mood to all people around you. Everyone at the police station loved you. Even Gavin, the most asocial of all cops, had a soft spot for your catching laugh. You were the friend people needed to have near them, people were coming to speak with you, to confess or ask for advice or just to be in your presence. But you, there was this one person you really like the most, maybe even too much for your own good, but who wasn't really liking you in return; your own partner.

Well, of course Hank liked you, you were a good company to be with, not to mention that you were an outstanding detective! After all, at the end of the police school, you had graduated as the best student of your promotion. But you liked the Lieutenant in a way that was not allowed to you. It was more a love liking. A liking that made you yearn for entering in his life and try to make him forget about his tragedy, to get him out of his alcoholism. It made you dream about being in his arms and that he make love to you like a man his age surely know to make with his experience, dream about sharing his daily life. Dream about waking up every morning by his side, dream about making breakfast to him, then going to work with him and return at night to continue a real couple's life with him and Sumo, his adorable Saint-Bernard.

Two years beside him and you learned a lot about him. You knew whole parts of his life and he knew some of yours, but you wanted the future to be with you at his side. But you also knew it was not possible. There was so many obstacles between you two; first of all the fact Hank wasn't attracted by men (he had a wife, a child and no gay romances the last you heard). Then, there was your age gap which was, well... a big gap. If you were not disgusted at all by that, you didn't know if Hank could see a problem in this. And there was also the fact Hank was probably not ready to start a new relationship yet, especially with you because of you being both men, or his son's death still in his mind, deeply ingrained in his memory. Enough to prevent him from moving forwards. Well, yes, a lot of obstacles, nothing to let you hope he's going to send back you feelings for him...

- (M/n)! Are you listening to me, for fuck's sake!

- S-Sorry... You excused sheepishly.

- So, what do we get today? Hank asked more nicely as he sat down on the other side of the desk.
