The coffee shop was a bookstore on one side... and a quiet cafe in the other. Usually, jazz music or slow tunes would play through the radio and the smell of fresh coffee wafted through. It was calming, and Steve Rogers liked to think he could escape here.

Ever since the Avengers were recognized as public figures all of them had moved into the newly renovated tower. SHIELD has allowed him a temporary leave, giving him time to discover the 21st century on his own. Natasha and Clint were occasionally at the tower, claiming it was better than constantly staying in the base. Thor and Loki have returned to Asgard for the time being. Dr. Bruce and Tony Stark had become close friends, both spending hours in the labs.

The group together became a normal occurrence, a sort of strange dysfunctional odd little family. Natasha would try to set him up with people she knew, claiming he needed someone, Tony and Clint would try to hand him playlists and movie recommendations, modern technology really wasn't his forte. Steve had his own floor at the tower, designed ( thankfully) by Ms.Pepper Potts to be a little more old-fashioned than the modern architecture of the rest of the tower.

However, some days it was too much for Steve. He would find himself feeling confined in the tower, taking the black card Tony had given him ( the billionaire claimed it had unlimited money on it) he would simply pull on his jacket and walk.

Finding the little bookstore had become a safe haven, a routine after his morning run and shower to slide on his jeans and bomber jacket and take his little table at the cafe. Book in hand.

It was a calm, cloudy and a little rainy Saturday, Steve had ran earlier that cool October morning, showered, and came to sit at his corner table with a cup of coffee. He smiled to the barista who refilled his cup and she blushed he shyly looked back to his paper.

The black sketch book was a gift from Natasha, a quiet note of thank you for saving her during the Chitauri attack.

Sometimes it would be modern things, Natasha's face as she laughed one day at something Clint said, she thought no one had noticed.
