Trixie's POV:
An obnoxiously loud alarm rang throughout the castle. I've never heard this alarm before, what could be wrong? I grabbed the door handle, quickly pulling it open to be met with a familiar face. Pearl. "Pearl!" I hugged her. "Trixie,no time we ha e an attacker." She grabbed my arm. "What?" I asked her. "I'll tell you more in the safe room.
She tugged on my arm and kept an iron grip on me as she ran down the hall way.
We stopped at a painting- a large one, maybe 4 feet by 3 feet? It was an oil painting of the current Russian king, queen, and daughters. Our closest allies. Pearl grabbed the painting, and it swung open, making a loud noise emerge from its rusty hinges. She pushed me in and followed closely behind, closing the painting door.
Pearl pulled shut a thick metal door behind the wood frame of the painting. I then looked around the room to see who made it in. Mom, Dad, Pearl (obviously), Violet, Max, Fame, and Mrs. Kasha Davis. The others must have been in another safe room, or sadly may not have made it. MKD (Mrs. Kasha Davis) Informed us all that the girls in the selection were in a different safe room with the hairs Ginger Minj, luckily, they had made it to safety.
Loud gunshots sounded, yelling and panicked voices in the distance. I could only imagine how the outside looked. Then it hit me.
Katya.
Those in close vicinity to me, also known as the people in the safe room that I was in, must have seen my eyes become the literal size if saucers. I quickly stood up and tried to pry open the door. "Trixie! Stop that nonsense!" My father shouted. I didn't. I continued to try and pull open the metal door. "Trixie, dear," My mother tried to say. Everyone else was too shocked to speak.
"Mother, I need to help Katya!" I told her, turning around to face the people around me. "Mom, dad, please." I whispered. "Its like, its like if dad was out there, would you leave him to die? And Pearl, what about Violet! Max? Fame? Kasha, your a great person and motherly figure! If any if your guards in training were out there after you told them to leave you alone rudely, what would you do?" I yelled, getting a bit agitated. "The last thing she could have heard from me is just shouting the word 'GO' and she should have heard so much more." I whispered, leaning my back in the door, tears falling from my eyes.
"Trixie Barbara Mattel! Stop with this nonsense. That girl has caused enough trouble here, and you are lucky we are picking a suiter for you that is your own gender! Stop wining and let her be. You are to marry one of the girls who came to the palace, am I understood?" My father shouted. I stayed silent, the tension in the room growing rapidly.
I grabbed the shotgun from the corner and aimed, then pulled the trigger.
A hole blasted where the metal door was, and was melting due to the heat of the fast moving bullet. "Trixie Mattel! Don't you move an inch!" My dad shouted, and despite his wishes, I pulled open the painting's secret door and exited, closing it behind me.
I ran down the castle hall way, hearing alarmingly noisy screams and watching flames move across the fields outside. I kicked open the door of the building and was met by three familiar faces. One was a man Ginger had locked up many years ago. The other, he was the prisoner that had been deceiving to Katya on her first day at the palace. And the other- the other was the most beautiful face I never that I would ever see again, but I saw it, and I couldn't find the words. It was Katya.
The man ginger had locked up, who had dark hair and somewhat of a beard forming, it had mostly been gray scruff on his chin though, spoke up. "Let us make a deal, princess." A large smirk spread like jam across his wrinkled face. "Let's" the other repeated, tightening his grip on Katya. What do you want?" I tried to sound threatening, but I obviously didn't.
The men looked at each other and smirked, before the one with scruff walked forwards. "Meet us at the beach near the woods, the one behind your castle. 5:00 later, and if you miss it-" the man spoke, pithy stopping his sentence, before pointing to the one who held Katya, one arm tightly around her neck and the other on her waist. The man pulled his arm tighter, to the point where Katya was chocking up words that I couldn't understand.
"I'll do it," I said, looking fearfully at my friend. "Great. See you there." Then they both walked away. The alarm stopped, and everyone started leaving the safe rooms. I didn't know exactly what happened, but what I did know was that I was never going to tell anybody. At least, not anytime soon, and hopefully no one would find out, because apparently I am not allowed to love Katya.
I guess I've already broken that rule, haven't I?
