Nia waited for so long and she was scared. Her parents still haven't come into her room.

Nia felt like running away. But she knew it was coming.

After waiting thirty more minutes she decided she was gonna go to sleep and see what happens in the morning.

7:00am

Nia was woken up by her Father shaking her awake.

"Breakfast in five minutes". He said.

Nia was holding her breath until he left. She got out of her bed and went to her bathroom. She brushed her teeth and then took a shower. Even though her Dad said breakfast was in five minutes, she really didn't want to eat. She took her time getting dressed and doing her hair.

Nia grabbed her bag and came downstairs.

When she got downstairs, her parents weren't even eating.

"We wouldn't want to start eating breakfast without you". Her father grinned.

Nia wanted to kill herself.

She sat down and her Mother handed her a plate with bacon, eggs and grits.

"State the rules in this house". Her Father spoke over chewing his food.

Nia was scared by the sudden voice.

"State the rules". He repeated.

"Uhm-don't lie, don't be disrespectful, and honor my mother and father, and if it doesn't make God happy don't do it". Nia recited.

"And you broke three of the four of those rules. All we ask of you is those four rules and you can't even do that! So until you can, give us the phone, the laptop, and the tablet, we will drop you off to school and pick you up, and on the weekends you will be in this house. And no, Anaya and Jameer cannot come over". He spat.

Nia didn't even want to eat at this point. She had been on punishment many times. But Jameer and Anaya were always able to come over.

After not touching her food, her Mom took her to school.

"Honey we aren't doing this because we are mean. We're doing this because we love you". Her Mother tried to reason.

"If you loved me then you would understand that I don't do much. I just want to be a regular teenager and that's it. I'm not drinking, I'm not smoking, I'm not having sex, I just want to have fun. But no! Everything has to be a constant battle with y'all. So whatever your gonna do to me, do it, there's nothing else you could do". Nia spat.

Without another word she slammed the door and walked into the school.

Stopping at her locker she saw the girls and Trey waiting for her.

"So? What happened?". Anaya was the first to ask.

"I have no phone, I have no laptop, I can't go out wit chall no more, oh and y'all can't come over my house anymore. So yeah that's what happened". Nia slammed her locker shut and walked toward her next class.

"Y'all what is we gon do? Nia on punishment and it's our fault". Jameer sighed.

"Hell nah! You ain't putting that shit on me. Y'all the ones that dragged her to a party knowing her parents be on some bullshit. I just tried to get her home on time". Trey raised his hands up in defense.

"Shut up". Anaya threw a Cheeto at him.

"I feel bad". Jameer shook her head.

"Welp that's tuff. I see er right there". Trey pointed to a table across the courtyard.

Nia was sitting at a table eating alone.

"Should we go over there?". Jameer looked to Anaya and Trey.

"If she wanna sit alone let her sit alone. Shit". Anaya rolled her eyes.

"Man, I'm going over there". Trey stood up.

"Rest in pieces. Cause she gon chop yo ass up. She may be cute and quiet but she a lil mean bitch when she mad". Anaya shook her head.

Trey shook his head and walked over to the table where Nia was sitting.

"Wassup shawty?". He asked.

"Nothing". She replied not looking at him.

"I'on mean to be in ya business but, you look like you need a drank and some smoke". He recommended.

She let out a little chuckle.

"Oh shit! I got a giggle! I'm like that, can't nobody tell me other wise. What's that shit y'all girls be saying? Oh! PERIODT!". He cheered making Nia laugh even more.

"Nah but seriously though, like I just can't understand what Anaya and Jameer don't get. Like my parents are strict, they don't care about my reputation here. All they care about is my relationship with God and these days I'm starting to question it". Nia vented.

"I mean, I can't tell you that I understand cause my parents don't really believe in God but I know that sometimes parents just want the best for you, and sometimes they take that shit overboard. But don't let it get to you. Ride this shit out and get cho phone and shit back and you gon be fine". Trey advised her.

The bell rang before Nia could reply.

"I gotta go to class but, thanks Trey. You really be knowing what to say to make me feel better". Nia gave him a hug.

They lingered for a bit and then she pulled away.

"You want me to walk you to class?". Trey asked.

She nodded with a smile on her face.

He put his arm around her shoulder and walked her to class.
