Khushi walked inside the spacious living room of her mansion, her arm engulfing Arnav's."Sleepy are we?" She smiled as she caught him sighing with lazy eyes as she settled herself on the cozy couch.
"Not really, sleep is the last thing in my mind right now." He replied.
Khushi "Karthik called. He is at Cambridge, invited as some guest for a ceremony. Naira has accompanied him. They'll be back by tomorrow afternoon."
Arnav "Oh."
Khushi "Stay the night Arnav." She scrutinized him from top of bottom. He seemed restless.
Arnav "I don't think I can-" he looked away trying to distract himself from the conversation.
"Ever since I've told you that I need you to be transparent in our relationship why is that you're so restless." She walked towards him, the clicking of her heels alerting him who had his back facing her.
She gently turned him around. "Arnav look at me." She called him lovingly. "Why are you so upset.""I'm not." He replied staring at her expressionless.
"Liar, your face tells me another story." She said exasperated. "It's about your family isn't it."
"Please don't Khushi."
"Why? Why should I not speak about them? I know that you don't share the same relationship with them okay. Why won't you tell me."
Arnav "Why does it matter?" He sighed. "I'm here with you right. I'm here for you. Why does it matter what is up with them or what relationship that we shared. The Raizadas are not my family." He said firmly looking away at the portrait once again.
Khushi gently tapped his chin making him look at her once again. His misty eyes told her another story. His silence was enough to tell her what must have happened in the past two years when she wasn't around. He was lonely. He was hurt. No one cared. No one was there for him. No one made sure if he was alright.
"Perhaps you were the only family that I had." He whispered dejectedly. "Before I realized this it was too late. You were gone. My entire life changed once you left. I can't." He breathed in. "I can't describe that despite having a family I had no family cause no one understood my pain in the process." He breathed out. "Or perhaps it wasn't even their fault. Perhaps the only person that I needed was you and they couldn't make that happen so they just stayed away. Until I finally found myself indulging back in work again."
Staring into his heartbroken eyes she felt guiltier than ever. It felt as if someone threw a bucket of cold water on her face showing her the reality of the situation. She was hiding away from someone who craved her existence for the past two years. And when she finally found him she was still selfishly thinking about her broken heart, not realizing, that while trying to protect herself from the hurt, she was hurting the person that loved her from the bottom of his heart. For the first time Arnav was not at fault. He was beyond hurt and there was nothing that could cure his broken heart but her. And she was depriving him of it.
