"So, I totally dissed Jake," I explained to the priest.
"The 'prick'?" he asked carefully.
I nodded.
"What does he have to do with anything, Chapin?" he questioned.
I sighed and rolled my eyes. "He'll come back into the story later. So, this is what happened when the meeting started."
----------------------------------------------
The benches were about full at this point, and a guy was sitting a few feet away from me, I not even bothering to look up from my blanck IPod, but this is all I hear.
"I wonder which one is the white wolf. Damn, man I would totally bang that one!" he said enthusiastically.
My mouth dropped. What the hell were they talking about? Me? Laying them? Now thats a joke.
"I know man. She's absolutly flawless. Just think what she looks like. And I bet she can hear us right now! Look around and try and find her,"
These assholes didn't even care to find their mate. They were only interested in banging people they dont even know.
I quicky shut my mouth and looked up from my ipod to where I could hear footsteps against the sand.
Everyone silencd, and 3 firmilliar faces came into fiew.
There was the area enforcer, Allan Parker. He owned a fishing shop on the edge of one of east boundaries. He was also an older man, maybe early 60's, greying and wrinkled. He had pale blue eyes and was a little on the heavy side.
Then there were his brothers, Identical twins. I couldn't tell them apart, but I knew one was Mark and the other was Marcus. They were 30 somethings and I think Jake was one of their sons, now that I think about it. They all have the blonde hair....
But there was one man I didn't recognize. He was another father, he was short, but had brown, shirt hair where the sides were bald. He had blue eyes and wrinkles on the sides of his face.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Thank you for all attending this meeting here tonight. I know, this may be a little confusing, considering you are all in human form, but we must introduce the lead alpha of our new pack, Mr. Danny Palmisano!" Allan said, his voice scratchy and rough.
Danny waved to the crowd andeveryone started clapping, me REALLY not wanting to meet his eyes.
"Thank you," Danny said. "Me and my pack moved into town yesterday from Washington, and I've brought them along with me. They should be arriving here momentarily."
He stepped back into the hard line of men and Allan took over again.
"I've noticed we have few rouges in our group, but I insist we place you into a pack. So, will Spencer Allgresso and Chapin Torrez please meet us over here. The rest of you, please feel free to mingle."
I swallowed hard. Assigned to a pack? No. I was a rouge. Nothing more, nothing less.
New girls get abused and-
I tried to put the thought out of my head. Who knows, I might just get stuck with Jake...
I stood up, praying to anyone who was listening that my legs wouldn't give out. They didnt, and I stepped over the log and walked up with a little kid to the pack leaders.
He was maybe 15 years old, but with the confidence as a cocky bastard. He looked smart and didn't have any shame.
We made our way to the pack leaders and I shoved my ipod into my pocket and shook hands with al of the men.
When I made my way to Danny, he shook my hand and gripped it hard. Not to hard to have pain, but just to have inpact. No one else gripped me and he surely didnt grip the kid this hard.
"Mr. Palmisano," I said in a kind manor, considering the rest of the elders were looking suspiciously in our direction.
He smiled, eyes wide. "Illa est mea,"
He let go and I tried to rack my brain for what the hell he just said. I came up short.
"I think Jullian will do just fine in MY pack!" one of the twins decided and as soon as the words left his mouth, Jake and his pack made a dog pile on top of him.
I turned back to Danny and he looked at Allan. "May I take Miss Torrez out for a walk on the beach?"
My eyes widened and my brows furrowed together. A walk? WHY?
Allan carefully nodded and Danny stuck his hands into his pocket and made an action with his head for me to follow him.
I shoved my hands into my pockets as well and walked on the edge of the beach next to him, trying to keep from tripping.
It was still dark, but being a werewolf, I could see some things as we stepped further and further away from the bonfire.
"So Ms. Torrez," I looked up and he was smiling still. "Have you found your mate yet?"
I was a little taken aback by his question, but said. "No sir."
He nodded. "You seem to come from a different enviornment than other kids around here. Am I correct?"
I looked down, not wanting to talk about it. "Yes sir."
"Well, I think that you would make a perfect new edition to my pack. What do you say?"
I looked up and stopped walking. First personal questions and he just comes out of nowhere and asks me to be in his pack?
I chose my words carefully, taking a few moments to think them through. "I've never been in a pack before, sir."
He laughed and I bit down on my bottom lip. "Don't worry about that! My pack is well behaved and disaplined. I live at the Pack House with my son and the rest of the pack. Will you be joining us there?"
I coughed a little, choking on my own saliva at the question. When I finally calmed mself down, I said, "Evan and Alice wouldn't like that,"
"Are Evan and Alice your siblings?" he asked, confused.
"No," I laughed a little. "Their my foster parents,"
He laughed at himself, knowing how silly his assumption sounded now. "Are you in touch with any blood related family?"
"Not at the moment, sir," I said.
"Well, it would be nice to know where you are coming from. I can surely contact them and-"
"No!"
He looked at me appauled.
I shook my head and squared my gaze. "That's not a good idea. They aren't interested."
He nodded carefully, trying to understand. "Alright. As you wish, Ms. Torrez."
That was when he walked us back up to the fire, and there was a new pack occupying my alienated spot.
There were 5 of them, and to be honest, they looked NOTHING like the rest of the kids.
There were masked by expressions of seriousness as they made small conversation with eachother. Hoods up, hard for me to see with the fire dimming.
Danny ceared his throat and pointed to that group.
"That's mine?" I asked, hoping no one brought their attention to me. But they did and everyone looked up from what they were doing and looked at me.
Danny nodded and I had noticed the sun coming up.
I looked up at Danny and leaned in to whisper in his ear. "My parents can't know I left."
He sighed. "Alright. Do you know where our pack house is?" he asked.
"I'm sure I can find it," I assured him.
"You are dismissed if you come this afternoon," I nodded.
I walked into the forest far enough before shirfting into my wolf and making my way back to Evan and Alice's house.
