Our good sis Jayde in the MM.

I'm trying something a bit different and I'm hoping you like it. 😭 Feel free to leave feedback on that part, you'll know what I'm talking about when you see it.

Jayde
        Three hours later.
"Ok Jayde, your labs came back. You're HIV negative, you're safe. But I want to keep you in here for a few more hours for close observation." Dr. Collohari said. It was a little past 3:00am. August was knocked out on the couch and all through the night the phone Ruby gave me kept buzzing. As annoying as it was, I didn't dare pick it up. Couldn't have been anyone but her anyway.

The doctor wrote a few notes on my chart and left. The light from the moon shone through the curtains. It was beautiful, I haven't seen the moon in so long I'd forgotten how much I admired it. Mama used to sit with me and Ki on the balcony and we'd watch the moon and count the stars while she sung Mothers Prayer by Celine Dion to us. Me and Ki would often make stories about how it'd be if Mama never did drugs. He said he'd be in the NBA by now and I'd have my own hair salon because of my obsession with hair.

"That's not blinding to you?" August spoke breaking the silence. I didn't speak. "Uh aight...I'm gonna go get some ta' drink, want something?" Again I didn't say anything. August nodded and said, " I'll take dat as a no." then left. I could tell he was uncomfortable. But I didn't ask him to stay, I've actually been praying he'd leave. But he was stubborn. He wasn't moving a muscle as much as I begged him to leave.

"Aight I'm back and I'a wasn't sure if ya' really didn't want 'none or you was just..ignorin' me but I'a got ya some anyway. And the nurse said it was fine if you had some."

I chuckled. He was sweet. "Ooou is dat a smile?" He danced around a bit. I smiled a bit wider, he definitely could not dance either. Laughing, I tried to sit up but there was a sharp pain in my lower abdomen making me wince. August stopped his dancing and quickly walked over to me. "Need me ta' call da' nurse?"

Shook my head no, I didn't even like my nurse. August watched as I tried to get comfortable, trying to help where he can. Once I got there he handed me a lemonade and sat down at the end of the bed. "If you'n mind me askin', what happened to you?"

"I mind." I said. It wasn't his business to know what happened. "Understood."

We sat in an awkward silence. He pulled out his phone and played games while I just looked at the TV, not really paying attention to it though. August was blocking my view anyway. I didn't mind watching him though, he was nice on the eyes and I'm not sure why but he made me feel secure. Like nothing can happen since he was here. Weird.

His phone rang knocking me out of my trance.

"Hello?"

"Yea beybeh, I'm at the hospital na'."

"Yeah she straight. Ha auntie asked me to stay wit' ha'."

"Aight I love ya' , I'll see you later."

And he hung up. "Jemia?" I asked. He nodded. "You can leave if you want, I don't mind."

"Nah, she was just checking on me. See if you was straight also." He said.

"Can I ask you a question?"

He looked at me and shrugged. I hope he doesn't get offended by my question. "It doesn't bother you that she's so friendly? I mean, is it not overbearing to you?"
